ADAPTIVE VECTOR QUANTIZATION FOR REINFORCEMENT LEARNING

open access: yesIFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2002
Abstract Dynamic programming methods are capable of solving reinforcement learning problems, in which an agent must improve its behavior through trial-and-error interactions with a dynamic environment. However, these computational algorithms suffer from the curse of dimensionality (Bellman, 1957) that the number of computational operations ...

Cursive character recognition by learning vector quantization [PDF]

open access: yesPattern Recognition Letters, 2001
Summary: This paper presents a cursive character recognizer embedded in an off-line cursive script recognition system. The recognizer is composed of two modules: the first one is a feature extractor, the second one a learning vector quantizer. The selected feature set was compared to Zernike polynomials using the same classifier.
