[Video-assisted parathyroidectomy: learning curve].

Annales de chirurgie, 2001
Minimally invasive video-assisted parathyroidectomy (MIVAP) was introduced in 1997 for the treatment of sporadic primary hyperparathyroidism (sPHPT). The study aim was to review the entire series of patients operated on in order to analyse the learning curve of this procedure.Between February 1997 to January 2001, 185 patients underwent MIVAP.

Learned Video Compression With Efficient Temporal Context Learning

IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 2023
In contrast to image compression, the key of video compression is to efficiently exploit the temporal context for reducing the inter-frame redundancy. Existing learned video compression methods generally rely on utilizing short-term temporal correlations or image-oriented codecs, which prevents further improvement of the coding performance.

Video-based computer-assisted learning

Journal of Audiovisual Media in Medicine, 2001
As a relevant exemplar of MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 digital video use, a multimedia computer-assisted learning (CAL) application dealing with Critical Communication Issues in medicine was developed. The application allowed the student to navigate through a series of high-quality digital video and audio clips that were delivered in near real-time from an ...

Learning video primitives from natural video sequence

2011 4th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing, 2011
Block based video modeling is a hot issue of video information processing. In past literature, the size of block is set to a fixed value. Different with previous works, we find that the optimal size of primitives depend on the video content rather than fixed value.

Learning Efficiency of Video-based Learning

eLearn, 2018
What role should video play in online learning? That is the question that learning designers and teaching faculty face more and more when designing online instruction. In this paper we will share what we learned about students' learning experience in a video-based online course. We will propose a new perspective for looking at video as an instructional

Video for Learning

2018
To begin a discussion of instructional video, the context of the digital learning experience needs to be established. Developing digital learning content requires an understanding of the different components that build a learner-centric digital learning ecosystem, as well as the underlying foundation of the knowledge economy generally.

Self-Supervised Video Representation Learning by Video Incoherence Detection

IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics
This article introduces a novel self-supervised method that leverages incoherence detection for video representation learning. It stems from the observation that the visual system of human beings can easily identify video incoherence based on their comprehensive understanding of videos.
