Combinatorics of least-squares trees [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 2008
A recurring theme in the least-squares approach to phylogenetics has been the discovery of elegant combinatorial formulas for the least-squares estimates of edge lengths. These formulas have proved useful for the development of efficient algorithms, and have also been important for understanding connections among popular phylogeny algorithms.

Stream Flow Forecasting Using Least Square Support Vector Regression [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Soft Computing in Civil Engineering, 2018
Accurate forecasting of streamflow for different lead-times is useful in the design of almost all hydraulic structures. The Support Vector Machines (SVMs) use a hypothetical space of linear functions in a kernel-induced higher dimensional feature space ...

Local moving least square-one-dimensional integrated radial basis function networks technique for incompressible viscous flows [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper presents a local moving least square-one-dimensional integrated radial basis function networks method for solving incompressible viscous flow problems using stream function-vorticity formulation.

Incremental Learning Algorithm of Least Square Twin KSVC

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2016
In view of the batch implementations of standard support vector machine must be retrained from scratch every time when the training set is incremental modified, an incremental learning algorithm based on least squares twin multi-class classification ...

Least-Squares Contour Alignment [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Signal Processing Letters, 2009
The contour alignment problem, considered in this letter, is to compute the minimal distance in a least-squares sense, between two explicitly represented contours, specified by corresponding points, after arbitrary rotation, scaling, and translation of one of the contours.

PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF PILOT BASED CHANNEL ESTIMATION TECHNIQUES IN MB OFDM SYSTEMS [PDF]

open access: yesICTACT Journal on Communication Technology, 2011
Ultra wideband (UWB) communication is mainly used for short range of communication in wireless personal area networks. Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is being used as a key physical layer technology for Fourth Generation (4G) wireless ...

Association Between Individualized Education for Kidney Replacement Therapy Modality Selection and Peritoneal Dialysis Initiation: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is an established home‐based kidney replacement therapy (KRT), but its uptake remains low in Japan. We evaluated whether individualized education in a dedicated outpatient clinic was associated with the initiation of PD.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

A steady-state analysis of the ε-normalized sign-error least mean square (NSLMS) adaptive algorithm

open access: yes, 2011
In this work, expressions are derived for the steady-state excess-mean-square error (EMSE) of the ε-normalized sign-error least mean square (NSLMS) adaptive algorithm for both cases of real- and complex-valued data.
