Marine rotifers from the Northern Adriatic Sea, with description of Lecane insulaconae sp. nov. (Rotifera: Monogononta: Lecanidae)

Journal of the Marine Biological Association of the United Kingdom, 2008
During a survey of the marine rotifers of the Northern Adriatic Sea, Italy, we found a total of 20 taxa, including a new species of Lecane. This novelty, Lecane insulaconae sp. nov., occurred in the interstitial area of sandy sediment in the outlet of the Isonzo River, at a salinity of 30‰ and is therefore the first exclusively marine representative of

Lecane donyanaensis n. sp. (Rotifera: Monogononta, Lecanidae) from the Doana National Park (Spain)

Hydrobiologia, 1994
A hitherto unknown rotifer species was found in ponds of Dofiana National Park (Spain) during winter 1990, 1991 and 1992. It belongs to the family Lecanidae (Monogononta), is related to Lecane ungulata and superficially resembles Lecane leontina. Two specimens of this species hatched after two days incubation of pond sediments in the laboratory.

A Critical Re‐Evaluation of the Lecanidae (Rotifera: Monogononta) of Thailand, with Description of a New Species

International Review of Hydrobiology, 2010
AbstractTo contribute to the biogeographical knowledge of rotifers, we critically re‐evaluate the species of Lecanidae recorded from Thailand. We report on a number of rare (L. armata Thomasson, L. bulla diabolica Hauer, L. chinesensis Zhuge and Koste) and one new species of Lecane.

On four new tropical and subtropical Lecane (Lecanidae, Monogononta, Rotifera)

Hydrobiologia, 1994
Four new tropical/subtropical species of Lecane are described. L. abanica n. sp. is recorded from Saudi Arabia and the Comoro Islands; L. minuta n. sp. and L. spiniventris n. sp. from the Sultanate of Brunei, and L. nelsoni n. sp. from Brazil. An attempt is made to include characters of the trophi in the diagnosis of these Lecane.

Population level indicators of stress: Effects of two heavy metals (copper and mercury) on the growth ofLecane quadridentata(Ehrenberg, 1830) (Rotifera: Lecanidae)

Journal of Environmental Science and Health, Part A, 2010
We quantified the population level responses of Lecane quadridentata exposed separately to five different concentrations of Cu (0.3125, 0.625, 1.25, 2.5 and 5.0 micro g/L as CuSO(4)) and Hg (0.0844, 0.1688, 0.3375, 0.675 and 1.35 micro g/L as HgCl(2)) at 23 degrees C and under an algal food density of 1 x 10(6) cells/mL of Chlorella vulgaris for 24 ...
