An Alternative Form of the Lee Filter for Speckle Suppression in SAR Images

Graphical Models, 1995
Abstract An alternative form of the widely used Lee SAR filter is presented. The original Lee filter and its alternative formulation are mathematically equivalent. The new formulation, consisting of one single equation expressed in terms of coefficient of variation, allows a better interpretation of the filter effectiveness, The proposed alternative ...

Interpretation of the Normalizable State in the Lee Model with Form Factor

Physical Review, 1964
It is found that in the Lee model with cutoff function, both bound state and resonances can be simultaneously present. The interpretation of the bound state as the physical V particle is discussed. It is made plausible that the bound state in certain cases is a composite particle. (auth)

Predicting bed form roughness: the influence of lee side angle

Geo-Marine Letters, 2016
Flow transverse bedforms (ripples and dunes) are ubiquitous in rivers and coastal seas. Local hydrodynamics and transport conditions depend on the size and geometry of these bedforms, as they constitute roughness elements at the bed. Bedform influence on flow energy must be considered for the understanding of flow dynamics, and in the development and ...

The geometry of contact Lee forms and a contact analog of Ikuta’s theorem

Mathematical Notes, 2007
Questions of the conformal geometry of quasi-Sasakian manifolds are studied. A contact analog of Ikuta’s theorem is obtained. It is proved that a regular locally conformally quasi-Sasakian structure is normal if and only if it is locally conformally cosymplectic and has closed contact form. It is shown that the Kenmotsu structures have these properties

The Material of Form: Vernon Lee at the Vatican and Out of It

Victorian Studies, 2013
The conceit of a child’s unmediated encounter with galleries of antique art that opens Vernon Lee’s “The Child in the Vatican” (1881) seems designed to evoke that well-worn contrast between an idealized vision of antiquity based on sparse knowledge and conjecture characteristic of earlier eras and a more informed—because more material—encounter with ...

Lee Harvey Oswald: The Formative Years of an Assassin

2006
Abstract The assassination of President John F. Kennedy ranks as one of the most controversial events in United States history. It is arguable that no other crime has been so closely scrutinized and analyzed. Two government investigative commissions delivered multivolume reports on the assassination—the Warren Commission in 19641 and the
