A phenomap of TTR amyloidosis to aid diagnostic screening

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1113-1118, April 2025.
Abstract Cardiac amyloidosis due to transthyretin (ATTR) remains an underdiagnosed cause of cardiomyopathy. As awareness of the disease grows and referrals for ATTR increase, clinicians are likely to encounter more atypical forms of the condition in clinical practice.

Impacts of Left Atrial Appendage Treatments on Mitral Valve Diseases during Surgical Ablations

open access: yesReviews in Cardiovascular Medicine
Background: Left atrial appendages (LAAs) play an important role in regulating left atrial function, and much evidence supports the possibility that changes in left atrial structure may cause or worsen mitral regurgitation.

Management of acute intracerebral haemorrhage – an update [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Managing acute intracerebral haemorrhage is a challenging task for physicians. Evidence shows that outcome can be improved with admission to an acute stroke unit and active care, including urgent reversal of anticoagulant effects and, potentially ...

Capillary Electrophoresis With Amperometric Detection for Neurotransmitter Analysis: Principles, Electrode Materials, Methodologies, and Applications

open access: yesELECTROPHORESIS, EarlyView.
This review provides a comprehensive summary of monoamine neurotransmitter analysis by capillary electrophoresis with amperometric detection. Fundamental principles of amperometric detection, electrode positioning strategies, and approaches to high‐voltage decoupling are described, followed by a critical comparison of electrode materials, selection of ...

Left atrial appendage edema and spontaneous echo contrast following pulsed field ablation for pulmonary vein isolation: A case report

open access: yesIndian Pacing and Electrophysiology Journal
Pulsed Field Ablation (PFA) is a novel non-thermal ablation technique with several advantages and fewer complications. A 70-year-old male with persistent atrial fibrillation, heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, and prior ischemic stroke who ...

Comparison of Three-Dimensional Speckle Tracking Echocardiography and Two-Dimensional Echocardiography for Evaluation of Left Atrial Size and Function in Healthy Volunteers (Results from the MAGYAR-Healthy Study) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This thesis explores the possibilities of constructing an indoor positioning system based on Bluetooth Smart technology. Two non-trainable trilateration approaches and two trainable fingerprinting were implemented and evaluated at Mobiento's offices in ...

Mono‐dimensional, two‐dimensional and Doppler echocardiographic measurements in healthy Standardbred neonatal foals in the first 5 days of life

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Bodyweight, age and breed influence the echocardiographic assessment of foals. There are no echocardiographic studies in Standardbred neonatal foals. Objectives To describe echocardiographic values for selected variables, evaluate intra‐ and inter‐observer variability and assess cardiac changes in the first 5 days of life in healthy

Magnetocardiography combined with machine learning for pulmonary hypertension detection and improved short‐term risk assessment

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
Magnetocardiography (MCG) enables non‐invasive mapping of cardiac magnetic fields. In this study, an MCG‐based machine learning model detects pulmonary hypertension with robust performance. Furthermore, MCG features may improve the accuracy of short‐term risk assessment.

Acute Device-Related Thrombus after Watchman Device Implant

open access: yesCase Reports in Cardiology, 2019
Atrial fibrillation is characterized by irregularly irregular heart rhythm with an increased morbidity and mortality. It is associated with an increased risk of thromboembolism due to formation of blood clot in the left atrium.
