The effect of hemodialysis on echocardiographic parameters and on supraventricular cardiac arrhythmias

open access: yesКардиоСоматика, 2020
Relevance. Supraventricular arrhythmias are frequent comorbid conditions in patients with end-stage renal failure undergoing dialysis. The prevalence of atrial fibrillation (AF) in this group of patients is higher than in the general population and is ...

Biomarkers of coronary endothelial health: correlation with invasive measures of collateral function, flow and resistance in chronically occluded coronary arteries and the effect of recanalization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Objectives: In the presence of a chronically occluded coronary artery, the collateral circulation matures by a process of arteriogenesis; however, there is considerable variation between individuals in the functional capacity of that collateral network ...

Biomaterials‐Based Hydrogel with Superior Bio‐Mimetic Ionic Conductivity and Tissue‐Matching Softness for Bioelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
By mimicking the ion‐accelerating effect of ion channel receptors in neuron membranes, a biomaterials‐based ionic hydrogel (BIH) is developed, which offers a high ionic conductivity of 7.04 S m−1, outperforming conventional chitosan, cellulose, agarose, starch, and gelatin based ionic hydrogels.

Left atrial size and contractile function in healthy dogs and dogs with chronic mitral valve disease

open access: yesPesquisa Veterinária Brasileira
: In humans, left atrial enlargement and reduced contractile functions are associated with adverse cardiovascular events and a poor prognosis in many dilatation of the left atrium occurs with the gradual evolution of chronic mitral valve disease and is ...

P Wave Dispersion is Increased in Pulmonary Stenosis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Aim: The right atrium pressure load is increased in pulmonary stenosis (PS) that is a congenital anomaly and this changes the electrophysiological characteristics of the atria.

In vivo dose measurement using TLDs and MOSFET dosimeters for cardiac radiosurgery. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In vivo measurements were made of the dose delivered to animal models in an effort to develop a method for treating cardiac arrhythmia using radiation. This treatment would replace RF energy (currently used to create cardiac scar) with ionizing radiation.

Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Drainage with Malaligned Atrial Septum: A Case Series and Descriptive Study

open access: yesJournal of the Indian Academy of Echocardiography & Cardiovascular Imaging
Total anomalous pulmonary venous drainage (TAPVD) is a complex congenital heart anomaly characterized by abnormal venous return from the pulmonary veins. The classification of TAPVD has been a matter of debate, particularly when pulmonary veins open into
