Beyond the topic-marking discourse function of Left Dislocations. Evidence from Italian, Spanish, and English spoken corpora

open access: yesLinguistic Typology at the Crossroads
Left Dislocations (LDs) are generally regarded as carrying a Topic/Comment information partition and performing an overall topic-marking discourse function.

Left Detachment in a verb-final language: the interactional perspective

open access: yesLinguistic Typology at the Crossroads
The study examines Left Detached (LD) structures (Left Dislocation and Hanging Topics) in a corpus of natural interaction in Anal Naga (Trans-Himalayan, India; ISO 639-3:anm) in the multimodal interactional framework.

First-time patellar dislocation with resultant habitual dislocation two years later, which was not demonstrated on plain X-rays halfway: a case report

open access: yesSports Medicine, Arthroscopy, Rehabilitation, Therapy & Technology, 2010
We present an instructive case of habitual left patellar dislocation in which the patella had appeared odd due to lateral tilt relative to contralateral side, but had been radiologically confirmed to be on the trochlea at 1 year prior to the referral. An

Acromioclavicular Reconstruction Using Semitendinosus Tendon Autograft: A Technical Note and Case Report

open access: yesJournal of Orthopedic and Spine Trauma, 2021
Background: Although there are several surgical options for the treatment of acromioclavicular joint (ACJ) dislocation, there is no definite gold standard.

Agenesis of Medial Patellofemoral Ligament (MPFL) with Habitual Patellar Dislocation in Adolescent Woman with Cerebral Palsy – A Case Report

open access: yesJournal Orthopaedi and Traumatology Surabaya, 2022
Background: The current treatment for habitual dislocation and nonoperative treatment failure is surgical therapy. Therefore, this study describes chronic patella dislocation's comprehensive evaluation and management in an adolescent woman with cerebral ...

Non-traumatic testicular dislocation mimicking incarcerated inguinal hernia in a one-year-old boy

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Surgery Case Reports, 2018
Testicular dislocation usually results from trauma to the scrotum or abdominoperineal area. We herein report a case of non-traumatic testicular dislocation in a one-year-old male patient.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Simulation of screw dislocations in wadsleyite

open access: yes, 2010
The structure and energies of the cores of [100] and [001] screw dislocations in wadsleyite \left(\beta-Mg{_2}SiO{_4}\right) are calculated using a cluster-based combined elastic-atomistic method and a new parameterized interatomic potential model.

Inferior Hip Dislocation - A Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Case Reports
Introduction: Inferior hip dislocation, also known as luxatio erecta femoris, is a rare condition where the femoral head dislocates downward from the acetabulum, typically due to high-energy trauma, such as motor vehicle accidents or falls. We describe a

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...
