F‐Box and Leucine‐Rich Repeat Protein 4 (FBXL4) Maintains Sarcomere Integrity and Cardiac Function by Enhancing K48‐Linked Ubiquitinated Degradation of Profilin‐1 (PFN1)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Schematic diagram depicting the proposed signaling mechanisms underlying the effects of FBXL4 in the setting of cardiac hypertrophy. Under hypertrophic stimulation, cardiomyocytes‐specific overexpression FBXL4 maintains sarcomere integrity and cardiac function by enhancing K48‐linked ubiquitinated degradation of PFN1 at the K70 site.

Comparison of the Effects of Long-term Hemodialysis and Peritoneal Dialysis Modalities on Left Ventricular Functions

open access: yesReviews in Cardiovascular Medicine
Background: Hemodialysis (HD) and continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) affect left ventricular hemodynamics. This study compared the effect of two treatment modalities, CAPD and HD, on left ventricular systolic and ...

Effect of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome on left ventricular function

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Chest Disease and Tuberculosis, 2012
Background: The link between OSAS, left ventricular dysfunction, and congestive heart failure is less known, although OSAS is frequent in both systolic and diastolic heart failure patients.

Left ventricular systolic function evaluated by strain echocardiography and relationship with mortality in patients with severe sepsis or septic shock. a systematic review and meta-analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Sepsis-induced myocardial dysfunction is associated with poor outcomes, but traditional measurements of systolic function such as left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) do not directly correlate with prognosis.

Left Ventricular Diastolic Dysfunction in Pediatric Pulmonary Hypertension [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation: Cardiovascular Imaging, 2016
Pulmonary hypertensive vascular disease (PHVD) is characterized by progressive narrowing of pulmonary arterioles, abnormally high pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR), right ventricular (RV) dysfunction, left ventricular (LV) compression, and death in ≈25% to 60% of patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) 5 years after diagnosis.1,2 ...

Chaperone‐Mediated Autophagic Degradation of USP9X in Macrophages Exacerbates Postmyocardial Infarction Inflammation and Cardiac Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that inflammatory stimuli induce the acetylation‐triggered, chaperone‐mediated autophagic degradation of ubiquitin‐specific peptidase 9 X‐linked (USP9X) in macrophages. USP9X acts as a macrophage “inflammation switch” after myocardial infarction (MI). USP9X loss destabilizes tumor necrosis factor receptor‐associated factor (TRAF)

Left Heart Factors in Embolic Stroke of Undetermined Source in a Multiethnic Asian and North African Cohort

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2020
Background Cardiac features diverge in Asians; however, it is not known how these differences relate to embolic stroke of unknown source (ESUS) in Southeast Asian and Eastern Mediterranean regions.

Relationship between β1-AA and AT1-AA and Cardiac Function in Patients with Hypertension Complicated with Left Ventricular Diastolic Function Limitation

open access: yesCardiovascular Therapeutics, 2023
Objective. To investigate the association between β1 adrenergic receptor autoantibodies (β1-AA) and angiotensin II type-1 receptor autoantibodies (AT1-AA) and cardiac function in patients with hypertension complicated with left ventricular diastolic ...

Three-dimensional echocardiography and 2D-3D speckle tracking imaging in chronic pulmonary hypertension. diagnostic accuracy in detecting hemodynamic signs of RV failure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Background and objective. Our aim was to compare three-dimensional (3D) and 2D and 3D speckle tracking (2D-STE, 3D-STE) echocardiographic parameters with conventional right ventricular (RV) indexes in patients with chronic pulmonary hypertension (PH ...

Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction and Left Ventricular End‐Diastolic Volume in Patients With Diastolic Dysfunction [PDF]

open access: yesCongestive Heart Failure, 2012
Diastolic dysfunction can be diagnosed on equilibrium radionuclide angiocardiography (ERNA) by a low peak filling rate (PFR) in the setting of a normal left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). The authors evaluated the relationship between diastolic dysfunction, LVEF, and end‐diastolic volume (EDV).
