This study develops a hierarchically porous hydrogel patch strategy (HPMP), based on gas‐shearing microfluidics and an aqueous two‐phase system to fabricate porous microgels as microgel‐based bioinks. The porous microgels with controllable porous structure exhibit excellent cellular behavior.

Prophylactic use of carvedilol to prevent ventricular dysfunction in patients with cancer treated with doxorubicin [PDF]
Objective: Deterioration in ventricular function is often observed in patients treated with anthracyclines for cancer. There is a paucity of evidence on interventions that might provide cardio-protection.

This study demonstrates that inflammatory stimuli induce the acetylation‐triggered, chaperone‐mediated autophagic degradation of ubiquitin‐specific peptidase 9 X‐linked (USP9X) in macrophages. USP9X acts as a macrophage “inflammation switch” after myocardial infarction (MI). USP9X loss destabilizes tumor necrosis factor receptor‐associated factor (TRAF)

Left Ventricular Diastolic Function in Normal Human Pregnancy [PDF]
Background —Little information is available about changes in left ventricular diastolic function during pregnancy. We used mitral inflow and pulmonary venous flow profiles to evaluate left ventricular diastolic function in 37 healthy pregnant women 26 to 41 years old (mean, 32 years).

A bioinspired piezoelectric sensor mimicking Pacinian corpuscles is developed to enable ultrasensitive and linear pressure sensing. A multilayer grooved architecture converts normal pressure into in‐plane strain, delivering high sensitivity, wide linear range, and efficient energy harvesting, enabling high‐fidelity wrist pulse monitoring and ...

Impact of atrial fibrillation on the cardiovascular system through a lumped-parameter approach [PDF]
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common arrhythmia affecting millions of people in the Western countries and, due to the widespread impact on the population and its medical relevance, is largely investigated in both clinical and bioengineering ...

ABSTRACT Marfan syndrome (MFS) is a rare connective tissue disorder characterized by involvement of the cardiovascular, ocular, and musculoskeletal systems. Pathogenic variants in FBN1 cause most of the MFS cases; however, intellectual disability (ID) is rarely observed. A non‐consanguineous Pakistani family with four affected individuals was recruited.

Left ventricular diastolic function in congenital myotonic dystrophy [PDF]
Examination of left ventricular function and conduction abnormalities in myotonic dystrophy.Twelve patients (median age, 13.7 years) with myotonic dystrophy had detailed electrocardiography and echocardiography performed. Echocardiographic parameters were compared with body surface area (BSA) matched median normal values.Fractional shortening was ...

The example of the time dependent fluctuation of systolic pressure on rat arterial pulse waveform in ms. The four levels of the systolic pressure fluctuation show di‐gital, tri‐gital and tetra‐gital fluctuation. The red dots represent particular heartbeats. Abstract Background An arterial stiffness is an indicator of many cardiovascular diseases.

Midlife blood pressure predicts future diastolic dysfunction independently of blood pressure [PDF]
OBJECTIVES: High blood pressure (BP) is associated with diastolic dysfunction, but the consequence of elevated BP over the adult life course on diastolic function is unknown.
