Cyclical Self-Supervision for Semi-Supervised Ejection Fraction Prediction from Echocardiogram Videos [PDF]
Left-ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) is an important indicator of heart failure. Existing methods for LVEF estimation from video require large amounts of annotated data to achieve high performance, e.g. using 10,030 labeled echocardiogram videos to achieve mean absolute error (MAE) of 4.10.

Targeting miRNA‐1a and miRNA‐15b: A Novel Combinatorial Strategy to Drive Adult Cardiac Regeneration
The article explores a novel therapeutic strategy for cardiac regeneration by targeting miRNA‐1a and miRNA‐15b. Combinatorial inhibition of miR‐1a and miR‐15b enhances cardiomyocyte proliferation, improves heart function, and reduces fibrosis in myocardial infarction models.

Real-time Assessment of Right and Left Ventricular Volumes and Function in Children Using High Spatiotemporal Resolution Spiral bSSFP with Compressed Sensing [PDF]
Background: Real-time (RT) assessment of ventricular volumes and function enables data acquisition during free-breathing. However, in children the requirement for high spatiotemporal resolution requires accelerated imaging techniques. In this study, we implemented a novel RT bSSFP spiral sequence reconstructed using Compressed Sensing (CS) and ...

Interleukin-18 mediates cardiac dysfunction induced by western diet independent of obesity and hyperglycemia in the mouse [PDF]
Obesity and diabetes are independent risk factors for heart failure and are associated with the consumption of diet rich in saturated fat and sugar, Western diet (WD), known to induce cardiac dysfunction in the mouse through incompletely characterized ...

During a heart attack, neutrophils rapidly activate and differentiate into a specific subset characterized by high levels of MMP9, a tissue‐damaging enzyme, via the SPI1/CST7 pathway. These neutrophils form harmful net‐like structures (Neutrophil extracellular traps, NETs) that exacerbate heart injury.

ASB1 differential methylation in ischaemic cardiomyopathy. Relationship with left ventricular performance in end stage heart failure patients [PDF]
Aims: Ischaemic cardiomyopathy (ICM) leads to impaired contraction and ventricular dysfunction causing high rates of morbidity and mortality. Epigenomics allows the identification of epigenetic signatures in human diseases. We analyse the differential epigenetic patterns of ASB gene family in ICM patients and relate these alterations to their ...

Differences between patients with ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation as assessed by signal-averaged electrocardiogram, radionuclide ventriculography and cardiac mapping [PDF]
This study examined 65 patients with ventricular tachycardia or fibrillation late after myocardial infarction to determine whether they differed with respect to duration of ventricular activation in sinus rhythm and left ventricular ejection fraction ...
