Correlation between 24-hour profile of blood pressure and ventricular arrhythmias and their prognostic significance in patients with arterial hypertension [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Background/Aim. Left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH), apart from arterial hypertension, is a risk factor for electrophysiologic heart condition disorder and sudden cardiac death.

Neutrophil deficiency increases T cell numbers at the site of tissue injury in mice

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In wild‐type mice, injury or acute inflammation induces neutrophil influx followed by macrophage accumulation. Mcl1ΔMyelo (neutrophil‐deficient) mice lack neutrophils, and in response to muscle injury show fewer macrophages and exhibit strikingly elevated T‐cell numbers, primarily non‐conventional “double‐negative” (DN) αβ and γδ T cells.

Progression of Hypertrophy and Myocardial Fibrosis in Aortic Stenosis: A Multicenter Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Background: Aortic stenosis is accompanied by progressive left ventricular hypertrophy and fibrosis. We investigated the natural history of these processes in asymptomatic patients and their potential reversal post-aortic valve replacement (AVR ...

Left Ventricular Mass and the Risk of Sudden Cardiac Death: A Population‐Based Study

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association : Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2014
Background Left ventricular (LV) mass ascertained using echocardiography may enhance risk stratification for sudden cardiac death. The objective of this study was to assess the association between left ventricular mass and the risk of sudden cardiac ...

Controversies in the Assessment of Left Ventricular Mass [PDF]

open access: yesHypertension, 2010
With the recognition that left ventricular (LV) mass (LVM) contributed to the prediction of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, independent of conventional risk factors, including those that partially determined LVM (body size, blood pressure, and tobacco), interest in better understanding the clinical and epidemiological roles of LVM measurement ...

Targeting the AKT/mTOR pathway attenuates the metastatic potential of colorectal carcinoma circulating tumor cells in a murine xenotransplantation model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dual targeting of AKT and mTOR using MK2206 and RAD001 reduces tumor burden in an intracardiac colon cancer circulating tumor cell xenotransplantation model. Analysis of AKT isoform‐specific knockdowns in CTC‐MCC‐41 reveals differentially regulated proteins and phospho‐proteins by liquid chromatography coupled mass spectrometry. Circulating tumor cells

Long‐Term Evaluation of Givinostat in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, and Natural History Comparisons

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives This ongoing, open‐label extension study is evaluating the long‐term safety, tolerability, and efficacy of givinostat, a Class I and II histone deacetylase inhibitor, in patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). Methods The recruited patients completed one of two prior clinical studies (one Phase 2 and one Phase 3 [EPIDYS ...
