Age‐Dependent Correlation of Pulmonary Function Impairment and Aortic Arch Stiffness in Mice

open access: yesPediatric Discovery, EarlyView.
This study examined the relationship between aortic arch stiffness and lung function in aging mice. Multiple linear regression modeling showed moderate to strong correlations between the rise in aortic arch stiffness and changes in lung function as the mice progressively aged.

Assessment of Double Outlet Left Ventricle in Pediatrics Using Transthoracic Echocardiography and Computed Tomographic Angiography

open access: yesPediatric Discovery, EarlyView.
The clinical manifestation of DOLV was atypical. TTE has a relatively high diagnostic accuracy for DOLV in pediatric, which is very valuable for its early detection. ABSTRACT Double outlet left ventricle (DOLV) is a rare congenital cardiac anomaly in which both great arteries originate entirely or predominantly from the morphologic left ventricle.

Recurrence of Left Ventricular Outflow Tract Obstruction Requiring Alcohol Septal Ablation after Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation

open access: yesCase Reports in Cardiology, 2018
Left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) obstruction is sometimes observed in patients with severe aortic stenosis (AS). It is still controversial how to manage the remaining severe AS, when LVOT obstruction is well-controlled by medical therapy.

Surgical treatment of subaortic stenosis after biventricular repair of double-outlet right ventricle [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Out of 180 patients who underwent biventricular repair of double-outlet right ventricle between 1980 and 1995, 9 (5%) required reoperation because of subaortic stenosis. Two other patients who initially underwent operation elsewhere underwent reoperation

Gastric dilatation secondary to incarceration through a gastrosplenic omental rent in a dog

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, EarlyView.
Abstract A 2‐year‐old, entire, female Dogue de Bordeaux presented with inappetence and abdominal distension. Radiographs revealed gastric dilatation and malpositioning. Given the absence of classical signs of gastric dilatation and volvulus, a medical approach was elected. After 24 hours, the dog's condition deteriorated.

Left Ventricular Myxoma Leading to Left Ventricular Outflow Tract Obstruction

open access: yesKorean Journal of Medicine, 2012
Cardiac myxoma is the most common primary cardiac tumor, but ventricular myxoma accounts for only 5% of the cases. We report a case of a 62-year-old woman with a left ventricular myxoma emerging from the ventricular side of the mitral valve that led to left ventricular outflow tract obstruction. The patient complained of chest discomfort and dyspnea. A

Measurement and interpretation of central venous pressure: a narrative review

open access: yesAnaesthesia, EarlyView.
Summary Introduction Central venous pressure has been a key component of haemodynamic monitoring for several decades, but its clinical utility is still debated. While central venous pressure has been used traditionally to assess intravascular volume status and fluid responsiveness, mounting evidence suggests that its absolute value alone is an ...
