Astrocytic Phenotypic Switching in Posterior Piriform Cortex Orchestrates Bone Cancer Pain–Depression Comorbidity via Purinergic–Noradrenergic Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bone cancer pain and depression share a common origin: astrocytic A2‐to‐A1 transition in the posterior piriform cortex. This phenotypic shift disrupts the ATP–adenosine–A2AR–norepinephrine axis, simultaneously driving nociceptive and affective dysfunction.

CLINICAL AND DIAGNOSTIC FEATURES OF AORTIC STENOSIS

open access: yesКубанский научный медицинский вестник, 2015
Early diagnosis of aortic stenosis may begin with the identification of left ventricular hypertrophy by two-dimensional Doppler echocardiography. For aortic stenosis characterized by concentric left ventricular remodeling, when the index for normal left ...

Intercellular Adhesion Molecule 1 Regulates Left Ventricular Leukocyte Infiltration, Cardiac Remodeling, and Function in Pressure Overload–Induced Heart Failure

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association : Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2016
Background Left ventricular dysfunction and heart failure are strongly associated in humans with increased circulating levels of proinflammatory cytokines, T cells, and soluble intercellular cell adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM1).

BIN1 and ALDH1B1 Deficiency in Colonic Smooth Muscle Drives Mitochondrial Dysfunction and Fibrosis in Slow‐Transit Constipation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Slow‐transit constipation (STC) is a disabling motility disorder with unclear smooth‐muscle mechanisms. Spatial proteomic analysis of STC patient colon reveals both the central pathogenic role of smooth muscle cells (SMCs) in STC and novel regulators of intestinal motility, BIN1 and ALDH1B1.

Maternal Cardiovascular Impairment in Pregnancies Complicated by Severe Fetal Growth Restriction

open access: yes, 2012
—Fetal growth restriction and preeclampsia are both conditions of placental etiology and associated to increased risk for the long-term development of cardiovascular disease in the mother. At presentation, preeclampsia is associated with maternal global

Endogenous Engineering Reprograms Extracellular Vesicles for Enhanced Therapeutic Function

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review explains how Extracellular vesicles‐producing cells can be endogenously engineered to load therapeutic proteins and nucleic acids. We summarize physiological and genetic strategies that harness native sorting pathways for selective cargo loading.

Patterns of left ventricular hypertrophy and geometric remodeling in essential hypertension.

open access: yesJournal of the American College of Cardiology, 1992
The spectrum of left ventricular geometric adaptation to hypertension was investigated in 165 patients with untreated essential hypertension and 125 age- and gender-matched normal adults studied by two-dimensional and M-mode echocardiography.

Hypothermia and postconditioning after cardiopulmonary resuscitation reduce cardiac dysfunction by modulating inflammation, apoptosis and remodeling

open access: yes, 2009
Background: Mild therapeutic hypothermia following cardiac arrest is neuroprotective, but its effect on myocardial dysfunction that is a critical issue following resuscitation is not clear.

Synchronization‐Dissipation in the Cardiorespiratory System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By modeling central nervous coupling and viscoelastic interactions in the cardiorespiratory system we show that synchronization produces a 10% gain in cardiac efficiency in humans. It is surmised that respiratory sinus arrhythmia improves cardiac pumping efficiency by reducing dynamic stress and power dissipation in the pulmonary vasculature.

Predictors of Left Ventricular Remodeling Post Acute Myocardial Infarction. Protocol for a Clinical Study

open access: yesJournal of Interdisciplinary Medicine, 2019
Heart failure is a clinical syndrome that appears as a consequence of a structural disease, and the most common cause of left ventricular systolic dysfunction results from myocardial ischemia.
