Cutaneous Phosphorylated Alpha‐Synuclein in Lewy Body Dementia

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To determine the test performance of cutaneous phosphorylated alpha‐synuclein (P‐SYN) in dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), individuals with reduced Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) and healthy controls. Methods This is the first subgroup analysis of the Synuclein‐One study, a prospective, blinded study evaluating P‐SYN detection ...

Cycle-to-cycle control of swing phase of paraplegic gait induced by surface electrical stimulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Parameterised swing phase of gait in paraplegics was obtained using surface electrical stimulation of the hip flexors, hamstrings and quadriceps; the hip flexors were stimulated to obtain a desired hip angle range, the hamstrings to provide foot ...

Adult‐Onset Subacute Sclerosing Panencephalitis Presenting With Subacute Cognitive Deficits

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We describe the case of a 41‐year‐old man diagnosed with adult‐onset subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE). The patient presented with subacute progressive cognitive deficits and a neuropsychological profile indicating predominant frontoparietal dysfunction. MRI showed only mild parietal‐predominant cerebral atrophy.

Differential glucose uptake in quadriceps and other leg muscles during one-legged dynamic submaximal knee-extension exercise

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2011
One-legged dynamic knee-extension exercise (DKE) is a widely used model to study the local cardiovascular and metabolic responses to exercise of the quadriceps muscles.

The effect of silica-calcite sedimentary rock contained in the chicken broiler diet on the overall quality of chicken muscles

open access: yesOpen Chemistry, 2020
Opoka is a silica-calcite sedimentary rock chemically and structurally similar to diatomaceous earth (DE), composed mainly of silicon dioxide (SiO2), calcium carbonate (CaCO3), amorphous SiO. Opoka occurs predominantly in South Eastern Europe and Russia.

Whole‐Body Pattern of Muscle Degeneration and Progression in Sarcoglycanopathies

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To characterize whole‐body intramuscular fat distribution pattern in patients with sarcoglycanopathies and explore correlations with disease severity, duration and age at onset. Methods Retrospective, cross‐sectional, multicentric study enrolling patients with variants in one of the four sarcoglycan genes who underwent whole‐body ...

Shaping leg muscles in Drosophila: role of ladybird, a conserved regulator of appendicular myogenesis. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2006
Legs are locomotor appendages used by a variety of evolutionarily distant vertebrates and invertebrates. The primary biological leg function, locomotion, requires the formation of a specialised appendicular musculature.
