Ecological Restoration of a Cultivated Wetland to Enhance Nitrogen Retention in a Rapidly Developing Watershed

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract For much of the coastal United States, water quality continues to worsen due to excess nitrogen (N) from agricultural production and urban development. Restoration of freshwater wetlands, especially those connected to streams (i.e., fluvial wetlands), is a promising management option for curtailing watershed inputs of N to coastal embayments ...

Hyperdominance of Exotic Invasive Trees in Street Afforestation of Semi‐Arid Brazilian Cities

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 58, Issue 4, July 2026.
Cities of the Brazilian semi‐arid region are dominated by non‐native species. Fifty percent of urban afforestation is composed of the invasive species Azadirachta indica. The urbanization gradient does not affect the richness of non‐native species. Cities farther away from the Brazilian coast are mostly biodiversity‐unfriendly.

The Disentanglement of the Body–Consciousness–World Intertwining: A Phenomenology of Severe Mental Illness

open access: yesNursing Inquiry, Volume 33, Issue 3, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Severe mental illness is frequently approached through nosological criteria focused on symptom severity, neglecting the complexity of lived experience. Phenomenology understands psychopathology not as an isolated biological dysfunction, but as a radical alteration in the structure of being‐in‐the‐world. Grounded in Merleau‐Ponty's ontology and

The rise of the ecocentric right to a healthy environment before human rights courts in Africa and Latin America

open access: yesReview of European, Comparative &International Environmental Law, Volume 35, Issue 2, Page 414-424, July 2026.
Abstract This article examines jurisprudence from key African and Latin American human rights bodies regarding the right to a healthy environment, with a focus on recent jurisprudence (2023–2025). It identifies a growing trend of an ecocentric interpretation of the right, which acknowledges that the environment and the life forms within it hold ...
