On‐site pilot‐scale advanced oxidation pretreatment of hospital wastewater: assessment of pharmaceuticals, pathogens, antibiotic resistance genes and acute ecotoxicity

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Technology &Biotechnology, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND Hospital premises generate wastewater containing a wide spectrum of contaminants, such as pharmaceutically active compounds (PhACs), antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) and pathogenic microorganisms, whilst plenty of them are classified under the antibiotic resistant bacteria (ΑRΒ) category.

Protoalgebraic and Equivalential Logics

open access: yes, 2016
In this master's thesis we study a lower part of the so called Leibniz hierarchy in abstract algebraic logic. Abstract algebraic logic concerns itself with taxonomic study of logics. The main classification of logics is the one into the Leibniz hierarchy

Generalized Leibniz rule for an extended fractional derivative operator with applications to special functions

open access: yes, 2011
Recently an extended operator of fractional derivative related to a generalized beta function has been used in order to obtain some generating relations involving extended hypergeometric functions [19]. In this paper, an extended fractional derivative operator with respect to an arbitrary regular and univalent function based on the Cauchy integral ...

Integrated pretreatment and fermentation strategies for L‐lactic acid production from brewers' spent grain using native Streptococcus infantarius and Bacillus coagulans

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Technology &Biotechnology, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND Brewers' spent grain (BSG) is an abundant lignocellulosic byproduct of the brewing industry with strong potential as a renewable substrate for biotechnological production of lactic acid (LA). This study evaluated integrated pretreatment, enzymatic hydrolysis, and fermentation strategies to enable efficient production of optically ...

One Hundred Years of the German Soil Science Society (DBG) 1926–2026: Origins, Facts, and Background of an Eventful History

open access: yesJournal of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT On its 100th anniversary in 2026, the German Soil Science Society (DBG) is looking back not only on an eventful history with traditions and impressive achievements but also with painful interruptions and ruptures. One curious fact is that the DBG was initially founded as the national section of the International Soil Science Society (ISSS ...

Operando Raman Spectroscopic Studies on Propane Dehydrogenation Over Co‐Based Catalysts

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
Operando Raman spectroscopy was applied to investigate carbon‐containing species during propane dehydrogenation to propene over 3‐wt.% cobalt on silicalite‐1. The emergence of G and D Raman bands correlated with increased propene formation, suggesting that coverage of metallic Co by carbon species may be essential for selective propane dehydrogenation.
