A 36-year-old man had a six-month history of painless swelling in the medial orbit. Surgical exploration of this mass revealed a leiomyosarcoma. The tumor was entirely removed, as was all local surrounding tissue.

Abstract A case of retrovesical leiomyosarcoma in a male patient is described. The preoperative radiological and laboratory studies were inconclusive in determining the primary origin of the tumor. Diagnosis of a malignant tumor with smooth muscle origin was suggested by needle biopsy.

Perineal leiomyosarcomas are rare aggressive tumors for which the therapy remains to be defined. These tumors may be extensively infiltrating and therapy may require radical surgery. The problems encountered in treating these tumors are similar to those for retroperitoneal sarcomas.

Leiomyosarcomas of the head and neck is an extremely rare entity that because of its infrequency has been associated with both delayed diagnosis and misdiagnosis. Sinonasal tract is the most common site in this region. The overall prognosis is poor. It is necessary for appropriate immunohistochemical investigation for accurate diagnosis.

AbstractA child's head‐sized tumor on the upper back developed in a 43‐year‐old man. In spite of an extensive operation for the tumor, he died of multiple metastasis 15 months after the operation. Histologically, tumor cells proliferated throughout the dermal and subcutaneous regions, and a boxed‐in appearance was noted with silver staining.

We report the clinical, histopathologic, immunohistologic, and prognostic findings in 19 patients with cutaneous leiomyosarcoma, eight males and 11 females (mean age, 66 years; age range, 41-93 years). The tumors presented mainly as solitary lesions and were located on the head and neck (eight lesions), trunk (four lesions), upper extremities (three ...

A series of uterine leiomyosarcomas was reviewed in an attempt to assign prognostic significance to clinical and pathologic features. Extension of the sarcoma at the time of initial diagnosis was associated with a dismal outcome; no patient with disease beyond the confines of the uterus survived.

Malignant stromal tumours of the duodenum are rare. The efficacy of surgical resection for duodenal leiomyosarcoma was assessed in 5 patients treated over an 11-year period, probably the largest series treated by a single surgeon. There were 3 women and 2 men with an age range of 27–52 years. Tumours were large (8.5–21 cm diameter) and partly cystic (4

Cutaneous leiomyosarcoma is a rare soft-tissue sarcoma with negligible metastatic potential, but local recurrence rates after surgical excision have ranged from 14 percent to 42 percent. Unlike other sarcomas, guidelines for the optimal surgical excision margin of cutaneous leiomyosarcoma are not clearly defined in the existing literature.

A 32-year-old woman underwent a conservative total excision of a leiomyosarcoma of the sigmoid mesocolon. During the subsequent six years she developed additional malignant and benign smooth muscle neoplasms in the soft tissues and uterus which were treated only by nonmutilating surgical excisions with an excellent result.
