Effects of water table fluctuations on naphthalene degradation: Soil column experiment and modeling
Abstract In soils contaminated with petroleum hydrocarbons (PHCs), water table fluctuations (WTFs) affect the kinetics of PHC biodegradation and the generation and transport of carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4). In this study, a 300‐day‐long column experiment was conducted to simulate the effects of WTFs on the aerobic and anaerobic PHC ...

Faunal remains from fossil arctic ground squirrel (Urocitellus parryii) middens provide insight into the composition of small mammal communities during the late Pleistocene of Yukon Territory. We evaluated skeletal remains present in 88 of 249 middens in

The fossil remains of lemmings (Dicrostonyx sp.) have been discovered for the first time in Croatia. The small sample of 11 teeth (M1-3 and M1) originate from the Late Pleistocene/?Holocene sediments from the Romuald's Cave (western Istria).

Fluctuations in microtine populations in an island area in northern Norway 1958-1981
On the small marine island of Tranøy, in Troms county, populations of field vole (Microtus agrestis) peaked in 1959, 1962, 1966, 1970 and 1974, showing a 3 – 4-year cycle largely parallel with microtine cycles in the vicinity.

Predation Risk Does Not Delay Breeding but Reduces Nest Survival in High‐Arctic Shorebirds [PDF]
We assessed the impact of arctic foxes' predation pressure on two sympatric sandpiper species. Fox activity influenced the breeding ecology of both sandpipers, with earlier nest initiations and lower nest survival rates in areas of high fox activity. ABSTRACT Understanding predator–prey interactions is crucial for correctly answering many fundamental ...

Population fluctuations of lemmings in the High Arctic appear to be driven by predator–prey interactions. However, lemming grazing can sometimes have a strong impact on the vegetation during population peaks, suggesting a possible role of plant–herbivore

Recent studies suggest that alpine and arctic organisms may have distinctly different phylogeographic histories from temperate or tropical taxa, with recent range contraction into interglacial refugia as opposed to post-glacial expansion out of refugia ...

Ancestros textuales y descendencias contemporáneas: el caso Roberto Arlt – Fabián Casas.
The following work proposes a contrastive analysis between the novel El juguete rabioso by Roberto Arlt and its current effects on the narrative corpus of Fabián Casas´s work (Los Lemmings y otros and the nouvelle Ocio), from the general framework of the
