Lifespan extension due to caloric restriction (CR) is a well‐established aspect of animal senescence that has been observed in many taxa. Contrastingly, there is much less evidence in plants, even though it is straightforward to manipulate CR by restricting photosynthesis through reduction in light intensity.

Detection and Quantification of Dysprosium in Plant Tissues
ABSTRACT The growing demand for rare‐earth elements (REEs), particularly dysprosium (Dy), underscores the need for sustainable extraction methods. Recovery of Dy, particularly from geographically distributed waste sources, is challenging. This gap positions phytomining, a technique using plants to accumulate metals, as a promising alternative. However,

Hybridity of mainly asexually propagating duckweeds in genus Lemna – dead end or breakthrough?
Summary The cosmopolitan, mainly vegetatively propagating, organ‐reduced monocotyledonous aquatic duckweeds are the smallest and fastest growing angiosperms, distributed world‐wide and flower rarely in nature. Recently, we reported intra‐ and interspecific hybrids and ploidy variants in the genus Lemna.

On the Life-History of Lemna minor
1. The sporophyte of Lemna minor cannot be definitely homologized with either a stem or a leaf, but is a shoot undifferentiated except at the basal and nodal regions. 2. The secondary root is formed from a group of hypodermal cells at the node. The epidermis, which is pushed out, persists for a considerable time as the temporary root-sheath.

Summary Duckweeds (Lemnaceae) have excellent potential for fundamental and applied research due to ease of cultivation, small size, and continuous fast clonal growth. However, their usage as model organisms and platforms for biotechnological applications is often limited by the lack of universal genetic manipulation methods necessary for transgene ...
