Length–weight relationships for estuarine fishes in subtropical estuary

open access: yesActa Scientiarum. Biological Sciences, 2020
The present study describes the length/weight ratio (LWR) of 20 fish species caught in an intertidal area of the Paranaguá Estuarine Complex, southern Brazil. Fish were caught with three beach seine nets, with 2m high, 70m long and distance between knots of 2.5; 4 and 5cm. A total of 880 individuals of 21 species belonging to 11 families were captured,

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Sex-Specific Vulnerability of Fish to Dredging in the Mediterranean Coastal Lagoon (Lake Manzala, Egypt)

open access: yesAquatic Sciences and Engineering
Lagoon dredging disrupts aquatic ecosystems and fish populations. A study in Lake Manzala, Egypt, assessed these impacts by analyzing 2616 fish across ten species.

Relationship between fish size and otolith length for 63 species of fishes from the Eastern North Pacific Ocean [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Otoliths commonly are used to determine the taxon, age, and size of fishes. This information is useful for population management, predator-prey studies, and archaeological research.

Length-weight relationships of freshwater fishes in Greece [PDF]

open access: yesNaga, 1999
Length-weight relationships were calculated for nine fish species from Lake Volvi (Macedonia, Hellas), caught with gillnets of five different mesh sizes between October 1995 and October 1996. In addition, length-weight relationships for 24 Greek freshwater fish species and one hybrid were also obtained from the literature. The values of the exponent of

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Length-weight relationship and relative condition of Heterobranchus longifilis (Valenciennes) from Idodo River, Nigeria [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Length-weight relationship parameters of Heterobranchus longifilis males, females and combined sexes are given. The samples were collected from Idodo River, with size ranging from 123 mm total length, L, to 936 mm L. The values obtained for the mean L by

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

First record of saw-belly (Hemiculter leucisculus Basilewsky, 1855) from Zarinehrud River, Urmia Lake basin and its some biological characteristics [PDF]

open access: yesبوم‌شناسی آبزیان, 2015
This study aimed to the first report of Saw-belly, Hemiculter leucisculus from the Zarinehrud River and investigation of its morphometric and meristic characteristics, length-weight and length-length relationships.

Spatial and temporal variation in population structure of Hemigrammus marginatus (Characiformes: Characidae) in streams of the Ivinhema River Basin, Brazil

open access: yesZoologia (Curitiba), 2012
The present study has assessed spatial and temporal variations in the length structure of Hemigrammus marginatus Ellis, 1911 and estimated growth parameters for the species.
