The length-weight relationship and condition factor of Toothpony (

open access: yes, 2021
The purpose of this study is to specify the length-weight relationship and to evaluate the relative condition factor of toothpony (Gazza minuta Bloch 1795) in Pabean Bay, Indramayu, West Java. The fish collection was carried out monthly from January 2016

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Establishing a weight-length baseline for evaluating changes in yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacores) body condition in the Western Indian Ocean

open access: yes, 2013
Standard weight (Ws) equations were established for yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares) in the Western Indian Ocean and used as a baseline for calculating relative weight (Wr) indices.

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Comparative analysis of carapace length-weight relationship and condition factor of Panulirus stimpsoni and Panulirus japonicus, along Jeju Island, South Korea

open access: yesFisheries and Aquatic Sciences
The economic significance of spiny lobsters, Panulirus japonicus and Panulirus stimpsoni, is substantial in South Korea. However, their biological characteristics are not well documented.

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Morphological comparison of western and eastern populations of Caspian kutum, Rutilus kutum (Kamensky, 1901) (Cyprinidae) in the southern Caspian Sea

open access: yesInternational Journal of Aquatic Biology, 2019
This study aimed to investigate morphological differences of western and eastern populations of Caspian kutum Rutilus kutum in the southern Caspian Sea and its providing length-weight relationships and condition factor (CF).

Behaviour and weight gain in early infancy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Slow weight gain in infancy is the core sign of failure to thrive. However, it is far from clear what the cause of the slow weight gain in infancy is. Failure to thrive is mostly identified late in the first year at which time it becomes problematic to ...
