Scan-optimized Integrated Lens Antennas
27th European Microwave Conference and Exhibition, 1997In this paper the scan properties of integrated lens antennas with a quarter-wavelength matching layer are analyzed. For beam scanning on and within a cone, optimum feed positions are determined. It appears that for beam scanning on a cone the elliptical lens is the best choice if a small scan angle is required while the extended hemispherical lens ...

IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium. 2001 Digest. Held in conjunction with: USNC/URSI National Radio Science Meeting (Cat. No.01CH37229), 2002
Reflectors are the most commonly used antennas in high-gain applications. Although very efficient radiators, they require highly accurate curved reflecting surfaces that are often cumbersome to implement. Consequently, alternatives have been investigated. Space-fed arrays are particularly relevant to this work.

A folded lens antenna with triple use of the lens
26th European Microwave Conference, 1996, 1996A novel type of folded lens antenna is presented in this contribution. In addition to known concepts of folding reflector or lens antennas, the lens of the antenna described here is used threefold, resulting in a further reduction of antenna depth. Furthermore, a novel type of twist reflector printed on a planar dielectric substrate of given thickness ...

Combined reflector - lens monopulse antenna
4th International Conference on Antenna Theory and Techniques (Cat. No.03EX699), 2004The combined reflector-lens antenna having the common monopulse feed system is proposed for changing the sum and difference patterns width by turning of lamellate subreflector. Such an antenna allows one to improve a target detection probability with the same tracking accuracy. Information for antenna designing is done.

This chapter is subdivided into two sets of antennas that function on similar principles. While the reflector is known for shaping a beam in a particular direction (based on the location of a feed antenna) by using a reflecting aperture, a lens achieves a shaped beam by diffracting the signal from the source antenna.

Performance comparison of phase shifting surface lens antenna with other lens antennas
2014 International Conference on Power, Control and Embedded Systems (ICPCES), 2014In this paper behaviour or performance of three lens antenna; which having different thickness and weight are compared. These three lens antenna are the dielectric piano-hyperbolic lens antenna (DPHLA), phase correcting-Fresnel zone plate antenna (PC-FZPA) and phase shifting surface-lens antenna (PSS-LA).

Proceedings of the IRE, 1946
A new type of antenna is described which utilizes the optical properties of radio waves. It consists of a number of conducting plates of proper shape and spacing and is, in effect, a lens, the focusing action of which is due to the high phase velocity of a wave passing between the plates.
