Development of 2-D Generalized Tri-Focal Rotman Lens Beamforming Network to Excite Conformal Phased Arrays of Antennas for General Near/Far-Field Multi-Beam Radiations

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
In this paper, we present a general closed-form solution of trifocal Rotman lens beamforming network (TFRL-BFN) design to excite a conformal phased array of antennas for multibeam radiations.

Hyperactive ice‐binding proteins stabilize cell membranes and improve resistance to dehydration stress in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

Effect of terahertz irradiation on DNA damage repair in living cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We investigated the effect of terahertz (THz) wave irradiation on DNA double‐strand break (DSB) repair in living cells. We found that THz irradiation enhanced DSB repair at specific frequencies, whereas heat treatment inhibited it, indicating that this effect is nonthermal and frequency‐specific.

Optimizing photoexcitation conditions for time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering experiments

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering (TR‐XSS) is a powerful technique to visualize how proteins change their structure in real time after light activation. Selecting the right laser photoexcitation conditions—fluence, excitation geometry, and sample refresh rate—is critical to maximize the experimental signal while avoiding unwanted side effects ...

Dielectric Slabs-Based Lens for Millimeter-Wave Beamforming

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
This paper proposes a dielectric slabs-based lens for millimeter-wave beamforming systems. The proposed lens is based on the graded steps of the effective refractive index of the semi-spherical lens.
