Crystalline lens capsule staining with trypan blue

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2004
A 1-step method for staining the anterior lens capsule with trypan blue is described. The dye is instilled via a paracentesis port at the start of cataract extraction. As aqueous humor is allowed to exit the anterior chamber (AC), which consequently shallows, the resulting pupil block confines the dye to the AC. An ophthalmic viscosurgical device (OVD)

Diffusion of nanoparticles into the capsule and cortex of a crystalline lens

Nanotechnology, 2007
The purpose of this study is to determine the ability of fluorescent nanoparticles to diffuse into a crystalline lens. Intact porcine lenses from five-month-old pigs, intact human lenses obtained from three donors aged 41, 42 and 45 years, and sections of human lens cortex obtained from four donors aged 11, 19, 32, and 34 years were incubated for 72 h ...

Shifting crystalline pseudohypopyon secondary to lens absorption with spontaneous openings in the anterior lens capsule

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2006
This is the first reported case of a crystalline pseudohypopyon presenting as a layer of "snowdrift deposits" that settled inferiorly in the anterior chamber of the eye of a 55-year-old man and was associated with freely floating crystals in the aqueous humor, producing a "snowy Christmas Eve" appearance.

EXFOLIATION OF THE MOST SUPERFICIAL LAMELLA OF THE ANTERIOR CAPSULE OF THE CRYSTALLINE LENS

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1930
Ailing 1 reported seven cases of exfoliation of the lens capsule. I likewise observed seven cases of this condition at Bellevue Hospital. The appearance of the capsule of the lens and the conclusions to be drawn from the observations tallied with those of Dr. Alling.

[The biomechanical properties of the crystalline lens capsule in emmetropia and myopia].

Oftalmologicheskii zhurnal, 1990
Morphometric and electronmicroscopic studies of the capsule of a clear lens depending on the degree of myopia and age as compared with the capsule of a clear lens in emmetropia and myopia have shown that with age the anterior capsule of a clear lens becomes thicker, while the posterior capsule becomes thinner and increases in length.

Crystal deposits on the lens capsules in Bietti crystalline corneoretinal dystrophy associated with a mutation in the CYP4V2 gene

Acta Ophthalmologica, 2010
Abstract.Purpose:  We report a patient (Case 1) with Bietti crystalline corneoretinal dystrophy (BCD) associated with previously unknown findings of crystal‐like deposits on the anterior and posterior lens capsules. This patient is one of four (Cases 1–4) in whom we have found BCD associated with the same mutation in the CYP4V2 gene. Methods:  We ...
