Mechanical and Electrical Phenotype of hiPSC‐Cardiomyocytes on Fibronectin‐Based Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce fibronectin‐based PEG hydrogels with controlled rigidity to enable the culture of iPSC‐derived cardiomyocytes. These substrates offer an alternative to the current culture of these cells on fibronectin‐coated glass, providing enhanced structural and functional behavior. The system provides a more physiologically relevant platform to assess

Compatibility of phospholipid liposomal spray with silicone hydrogel contact lens wear

open access: yes, 2017
To assess the effects of two weeks of regular phospholipid liposomal spray application on lipid layer grade, tear film stability, subjective comfort, visual acuity, and lipid deposition in silicone hydrogel contact lens wearers.Thirty-one existing ...

Modular Control of PEG‐Poly(2‐Oxazoline) Co‐Assembly Enables Tunable Aggregate Properties for Intraocular Pressure Management

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A thermo‐responsive poly(2‐oxazoline)‐based injectable formulation is developed to modulate intraocular pressure (IOP) in both normal and hypotonic eyes. By adjusting the PEG content, the aggregation behavior is finely tuned, enabling IOP elevation without long‐term deposition.

Corneal thickness changes during scleral lens wear: Effect of gas permeability

open access: yes, 1994
The compatabillity of scleral lens wear with the physiological requirements of the cornea was assessed by measuring corneal thickness changes. Lenses made of either poly(methyl methacralate) (PMMA) (effectively non-oxygen permeable) or itaflourocon B ...

Considerations of a thick lens formula for intraocular lens power calculation

open access: yesZeitschrift für Medizinische Physik
Background: In recent years, some lens manufacturers have committed to providing lens shape data for some of their lens models. The purpose of this study is to present a strategy for prediction of intraocular lens power and residual refraction based on a

A study of corneal endothelial changes in soft contact lens wearers using non-contact specular microscopy

open access: yesMedical Journal of Dr. D.Y. Patil University, 2013
Aim: To study the corneal endothelial changes after soft contact lens wear, to correlate these changes with the duration of soft contact lens wear, and to study the pattern of use and preferences of contact lens among young adults. Materials and Methods:

Gellan Gum Fluid Gel System for Controlled‐Delivery of Cytokine‐Licensed MSC‐EVs to Enhance Corneal Repair in Limbal Stem Cell Deficiency

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Gellan gum fluid gel (FG) enables controlled ocular delivery of mesenchymal stromal cell (MSC)‐derived extracellular vesicles (EV). Its shear‐thinning, solid‐liquid‐solid rheology ensures prolonged ocular retention. Sustained MSC‐EV release (∼18% in 6 hrs) supports effective EV ocular delivery.

Measurement of film thickness distribution by surface plasmon resonance using a micro-lens array

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2015
In order to measure the two-dimensional distribution of the thickness of a metal layer coated on a dielectric layer at a time, we propose to use a micro-lens array (MLA), instead of a conventional single plano-convex lens, by which lots of surface ...

Plasmonic Enhancement of Fluorescence and Protein Dynamics in Living Mammalian Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates plasmonic enhancement of the function of fluorescent voltage sensing proteins (genetically encoded voltage indicators, (GEVIs), QuasAr6) in live mammalian cells. Coupling to plasmonic nanoparticles does not just increase fluorescence, but influences the protein photocycle, creating a hybrid sensor with its response speed to ...
