Properties of Stellar Populations in Isolated Lenticular Galaxies [PDF]
In this paper we present the results of long-slit spectral observations for a sample of isolated lenticular galaxies, made with the SCORPIO and SCORPIO-2 spectrographs of the 6-meter BTA telescope of the SAO RAS. By applying full spectral fitting technique using the stellar population evolutionary synthesis models, we have measured the radial profiles ...

Creating lenticular galaxies with major mergers [PDF]
Lenticular galaxies (S0s) represent the majority of early-type galaxies in the local Universe, but their formation channels are still poorly understood. While galaxy mergers are obvious pathways to suppress star formation and increase bulge sizes, the marked parallelism between spiral and lenticular galaxies (e.g.

Stellar nuclei and inner polar disks in lenticular galaxies [PDF]
I analyze statistics of the stellar population properties for stellar nuclei and bulges of nearby lenticular galaxies in different environments by using panoramic spectral data of the integral-field spectrograph SAURON retrieved from the open archive of Isaac Newton Group.

S-PLUS: LEnticular Galaxies in Stripe 82 (LEGS82) [PDF]
This work is a Brazilian-Indian collaboration. It aims at investigating the structural properties of Lenticular galaxies in the Stripe 82 using a combination of S-PLUS (Southern Photometric Local Universe Survey) and SDSS data.

Properties of the Photometric Components of Lenticular Galaxies [PDF]
After almost one century since their definition, the origin of lenticular galaxies is still a matter of debate. Several formation processes have been proposed in order to explain the wide variety of their observational properties.

Isolated lenticular galaxies: properties and evolution [PDF]
This work is dedicated to investigation of galaxies that do not fit into a common scenario of galaxy formation - isolated lenticular galaxies. We have studied stellar populations and ionized gas content of a sample of 22 lenticular galaxies (among those 4 targets have appeared to be of erroneous morphological classification) by undertaking deep long ...

Age and metallicity of the bulges in lenticular galaxies [PDF]
Panoramic spectroscopic data of the sample of 80 nearby lenticular galaxies obtained with the Multi-Pupil Fiber Spectrograph of the 6-m telescope are presented. The SSP-equivalent ages, [Z/H], and [Mg/Fe] are determined through the Lick indices H-beta, Mgb, and

Forming Lenticular Galaxies via Violent Disk Instability [PDF]
Lenticular galaxies are generally thought to have descended from spirals via morphological transformation, although recent numerical simulations have shown that minor or even major merger can also lead to an S0-like remnant. These mechanisms, however, are active in a dense environment such as a group or a cluster of galaxies - making it harder to ...

A catalog of warps in spiral and lenticular galaxies in the Southern hemisphere [PDF]
A catalog of optical warps of galaxies is presented. This can be considered complementary to that reported by Sanchez-Saavedra et al., with 42 galaxies in the northern hemisphere, and to that by Reshetnikov & Combes, with 60 optical warps. The limits of the present catalog are: logr25 > 0.60, B_{t} < 14.5, delta(2000) < 0, -2.5 < t < 7.

Bar fraction in lenticular galaxies: dependence on luminosity and environment [PDF]
We present a study of bars in lenticular galaxies based on a sample of 371 galaxies from the SDSS-DR 7 and 2MASS in optical and near-infrared bands, respectively. We found a bar in 15% of the lenticular galaxies in our sample, which is consistent with recent studies.
