Evidence for a Diagenetic Origin of Vera Rubin Ridge, Gale Crater, Mars: Summary and Synthesis of Curiosity's Exploration Campaign. [PDF]
Abstract This paper provides an overview of the Curiosity rover's exploration at Vera Rubin ridge (VRR) and summarizes the science results. VRR is a distinct geomorphic feature on lower Aeolis Mons (informally known as Mount Sharp) that was identified in orbital data based on its distinct texture, topographic expression, and association with a hematite

The Invisibility of Scotomas I: The Carving Hypothesis
SIGNIFICANCE Veridical depictions of scene appearance with scotomas allow better understanding of the impact of field loss and may improve the development and implementation of rehabilitation. Explanation and depiction of the invisibility of scotoma may lead to patients' understanding and thus better compliance with related treatments.

Abstract The sedimentary record of the Pahrump Group in Death Valley comprises well‐exposed successions of mixed carbonate and siliciclastic deposits. Despite the abundance of studies focussing on the depositional dynamics of mixed carbonate – siliciclastic deposition in the Phanerozoic, the record of similar Proterozoic examples is comparatively ...

Laboratory exploration of mineral precipitates from Europa's subsurface ocean
Precipitation experiments from a model Europan ocean solution subjected to fast and slow freezing suggest that the highly hydrated Na–Mg sulfate phase Na2Mg(SO4)2·16H2O is one of the lowest‐temperature mineral phases likely to be stable on Europa's surface and may therefore be astrobiologically significant. The precipitation of hydrated phases from a ...

Formation of Magnesium Carbonates on Earth and Implications for Mars
Abstract Magnesium carbonates have been identified within the landing site of the Perseverance rover mission. This study reviews terrestrial analog environments and textural, mineral assemblage, isotopic, and elemental analyses that have been applied to establish formation conditions of magnesium carbonates.

Outer disks of lenticular galaxies [PDF]
By studying the stellar population properties along the radius in 15 nearby S0 galaxies, I have found that the outer stellar disks are mostly old, with the SSP-equivalent ages of 8-15 Gyr, being often older than the bulges. This fact puts into doubt a currently accepted paradigm that S0 galaxies have formed at z=0.4 by quenching star formation in ...
