Reviewing Challenges in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Lentigo Maligna and Lentigo-Maligna Melanoma [PDF]
Lentigo maligna (LM) and lentigo-maligna melanoma (LMM) are pigmented skin lesions that may exist on a continuous clinical and pathological spectrum of melanocytic skin cancer. LM is often described as a "benign" lesion and is accepted as a melanoma in situ; LM can undergo malignant transformation to particularly aggressive melanoma. LMM is an invasive

Microinvasive lentigo maligna melanoma
Ninety-one skin biopsy specimens previously identified as lentigo maligna were examined for the presence of microinvasion, using the demonstration of S100 protein within atypical cells as the means for locating these superficial foci. In 14 cases, atypical melanocytes were identified, most often in the papillary dermis.

ABSTRACT Background Immunotherapy has transformed outcomes in stage IV melanoma, yet disparities in access persist. Minority‐serving hospitals (MSH) disproportionately care for socioeconomically disadvantaged and minority patients, but their impact on immunotherapy use and survival in melanoma is not well defined.

Summary Background and Objectives Deep learning‐convolutional neural networks (DL‐CNNs) have demonstrated high diagnostic accuracy within the domain of dermoscopy. However, many clinical settings lack dermoscopic devices, requiring reliance on close‐up images. This study evaluates the robustness of a DL‐CNN trained on dermoscopic images when challenged
