Lentinan Degradation in the Lentinula edodes Fruiting Body during Postharvest Preservation Is Reduced by Downregulation of the exo-β-1,3-Glucanase EXG2

open access: yes, 2016
Lentinan from Lentinula edodes fruiting bodies (shiitake mushrooms) is a valuable β-glucan for medical purposes based on its anticancer activity and immunomodulating activity.

Intrahepatic CD8+ lymphocyte trapping during tolerance induction using mushroom derived formulations: A possible role for liver in tolerance induction

open access: yes, 2008
AIM: To determine the immunomodulatory effect of Shiitake (a mushroom extract), we tested its effect on liver-mediated immune regulation in a model of immune-mediated colitis. METHODS: Four groups of mice were studied. Colitis was induced by intracolonic

Conformation-Dependent Manipulation of Human Islet Amyloid Polypeptide Fibrillation by Shiitake-Derived Lentinan

open access: yes, 2018
Misfolding and aggregation of human islet amyloid polypeptide (hIAPP) into fibrils are important contributions to the pathology of type 2 diabetes. Developing effective inhibitors of protein aggregation and fibrillation has been considered a promising ...

Immunopotentiating effect of lentinan on chicks and its inhibitory effect on Marek's disease virus infection

open access: yesPoultry Science
: Marek's disease virus (MDV) is a significant tumorigenic virus that causes severe immunosuppression in chickens. Lentinan (LNT) is an immunomodulator containing β-glucans and is widely used in areas such as antiviral, anticancer, and immune regulation.

Lentinan suppresses cell surface levels of TNFR1 in Caco-2 cells.

open access: yes, 2013
Lentinan (500 µg/ml) was added into the apical compartment of Caco-2/RAW264.7 co-culture model for 30 min. Subsequently, Caco-2 cells were harvested, fixed, and stained according to the method described in materials and methods.

[Fate of lentinan (antitumor polysaccharide) II : - fast of methyl lentinan in rats (author's transl)].

open access: yesThe Journal of toxicological sciences, 1981
3H-labeled lentinan was prepared by methylation with 3H-dimethyl-sulfate. Blood level, distribution and excretion were studied in rats. After intravenous injection of [methyl-3H] -methyl lentinan, radioactivity rapidly disappeared from blood, lung and kidney, distributed mainly in liver, spleen and mesenteric lymph nodes.

Antitumor effect of bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS) alone and in combination with lentinan on MH-134 tumors in C3H/He mice.

open access: yes, 1984
Using C3H/He mice, the antitumor effect of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) alone and in combination with Lentinan extracted from Lentinus edodes was studied. The influence of LPS on cellular immunity and the antitumor effect of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF ...
