The Nariño Cat, the Tigrinas and Their Problematic Systematics and Phylogeography: The Real Story [PDF]

open access: yesAnimals
The systematics and phylogeny of the most speciose genus (Leopardus) of the felidae have historically been contentious and problematic. These issues have been compounded with the recent advancement of genetic techniques that make it possible to detect ...

Avaliação do risco de extinção do gato-do-mato Leopardus tigrinus no Brasil

open access: yesBiodiversidade Brasileira, 2013

Abundance changes and activity flexibility of the oncilla, Leopardus tigrinus (Carnivora: Felidae), appear to reflect avoidance of conflict

open access: yesZoologia (Curitiba), 2012
We investigated the density and activity of the oncilla, Leopardus tigrinus (Schreber, 1775), a threatened small cat, in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest, using camera-trap data.

Stages and duration of the cycle of the seminiferous epithelium in oncilla (Leopardus tigrinus, Schreber, 1775)

open access: yesTheriogenology, 2012
Six adult Leopardus tigrinus (oncilla) were studied to characterize stages of the seminiferous epithelium cycle and its relative frequency and duration, as well as morphometric parameters of the testes. Testicular fragments were obtained (incisional biopsy), embedded (glycol methacrylate), and histologic sections examined with light microscopy.

The Role of Somatic Cell Synchronization in Nuclear Transfer and Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells for Wild Felids. [PDF]

open access: yesZoo Biol
Cell cycle and cells subjected to synchronization in G0/G1. ABSTRACT Human interference reduces wild felid populations. Somatic cell nuclear transfer and the use of induced pluripotent stem cells are potential conservation strategies. To improve the efficiency of these strategies, it is essential to establish adequate protocols for the synchronization ...
