The influence of environmental factors on the external parasites of saithe Pollachachius virens (L.) [PDF]
The influence of age, length and migration pattern of saithe Pollachius virens in relation to infection with external parasites has been studied in three different areas on the west coast of Sweden. A total of six species of parasites were found.

Using agent-based modelling to predict the role of wild refugia in the evolution of resistance of sea lice to chemotherapeutants [PDF]
A major challenge for Atlantic salmon farming in the northern hemisphere is infestation by the sea louse parasite Lepeophtheirus salmonis. The most frequent method of controlling these sea louse infestations is through the use of chemical treatments ...

Aquaculture‐driven evolution of the salmon louse mtDNA genome
Resistance toward the antiparasitic pyrethroid, deltamethrin, is reported in the Atlantic salmon louse (Lepeophtheirus salmonis salmonis), a persistent ectoparasite of farmed and wild salmonids.

The caligid life cycle: new evidence fromLepeophtheirus elegansreconciles the cycles ofCaligusandLepeophtheirus(Copepoda: Caligidae) [PDF]
The developmental stages of the sea louse Lepeophtheirus elegans (Copepoda: Caligidae) are described from material collected from marine ranched Korean rockfish, Sebastes schlegelii. In L. elegans, setal number on the proximal segment of the antennule increases from 3 in the copepodid to 27 in the adult.

Modelling the Effectiveness of Gene-Edited Salmon at Sea Lice Control and the Use of Refugia to Mitigate Counter-Adaptation. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Advances in gene‐editing technologies offer opportunities to improve disease management in aquaculture. Gene‐editing applications for farmed Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) include harnessing innate parasite resistance to protect against salmon lice (Lepeophtheirus salmonis).

Sea Lice Are Sensitive to Low Frequency Sounds
The salmon louse Lepeophtheirus salmonis is a major disease problem in salmonids farming and there are indications that it also plays a role in the decline of wild salmon stocks.

The use of prevalence as a measure of lice burden: a case study of Lepeophtheirus salmonis on Scottish Atlantic salmon, Salmo salar L., farms [PDF]
This study investigates the benefits of using prevalence as a summary measure of sea lice infestation on farmed Atlantic salmon, Salmo salar L. Aspects such as sampling effort, the relationship between abundance and prevalence arising from the negative ...

Changes in epidemiological patterns of sea lice infestation on farmed Atlantic salmon, Salmo salar L., in Scotland between 1996 and 2006 [PDF]
Analyses of a unique database containing sea lice records over an 11 year period provide evidence of changing infestation patterns in Scotland. The data, collected from more than 50 commercial Atlantic salmon farms, indicate that both species of sea lice

Chemoreception in the salmon louse Lepeophtheirus salmonis: an electrophysiology approach [PDF]
The search for effective and long-term solutions to the problems caused by salmon lice Lepeophtheirus salmonis (Krøyer, 1837) has increasingly included biological/ecological mechanisms to combat infestation. One aspect of this work focuses on the host-associated stimuli that parasites use to locate and discriminate a compatible host.
