Spinal leptomeningeal sarcoidosis
Neuroradiology, 1987Sarcoidosis is a fairly common systemic granulomatous disease of unknown cause. Neurologic involvement is now increasingly recognized but involvement of the spinal meninges is still rarely reported. Plain films are usually normal. Myelography will delineate the extent of involvement but the appearances are not diagnostic.

We report a case of primary diffuse leptomeningeal gliomatosis documented by MR. The radiological findings guided the surgical biopsy toward the area involved. Pathological examination confirmed the diagnosis. The patient could consequently benefit from treatment, i.e., radiation therapy, which was followed by clinical relief.

Neuron
The velum interpositum (VI) is a membranous extension of the leptomeninges under the hippocampus. In this issue of Neuron, Hohsfield et al.1 characterize cellular properties of the VI in mice and its role as a gateway for myeloid cells infiltrating the brain parenchyma.
