Potential repellency of cedarwood oil from a novel extraction method to stored product insects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Producers lose 10-30% of crops during storage, processing, and marketing after harvest each year to stored product insects (1,2). Globally, there has been a rise in insecticide resistance to phosphine, the most common fumigant for these pests (3).

Insecticidal efficacy of rapeseed extract in lesser grain borer (Rhyzopertha dominica Fab.) suppression

open access: yes, 2019
Lesser grain borer (Rhyzopertha dominica Fab.) is a storage pest of the Bostrichidae family. Insecticidal efficacy of rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) extract was investigated on four types of surfaces: ceramics, glass, treated and raw wood. Mortality rate of lesser grain borer was observed through three different exposures (4, 24 and 48 h) with the aim of

Inventory of observed unexpected environmental effects of genetically modified crops [PDF]

open access: yes
In general, it can be concluded that very few clearly unexpected effects were observed during the large scale post-release growing of herbicide-tolerant crops and Bt crops.

A study of population growth of Sitophilus oryzae L. and Sitophilus granarius L. in single and mixed culture in wheat and rice : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Plant Science at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
Biological interactions between organisms which contend for the same resource, have been of interest to ecologists since the days of Darwin. Although this sort of association is evident for many animal-versus-animal and plant-versus-plant situations, one

Influence of rice grain traits to their susceptibility to the lesser grain borer, Rhyzopertha dominica (F.) (Coleoptera, Bostrichidae)

open access: yesENTOMON
Rice grains of 20 varieties were tested for their physical and biochemical basis of resistance against lesser grain borer, Rhyzopertha dominica (F.) (Coleoptera, Bostrichidae). Physical parameters such as grain length x breadth, thousand seed weight, and grain hardness exhibited significant differences among tested varieties.
