Journal of Economic Entomology, 1994
The rate that stored-product insects migrate by flight into a grain storage facility is influenced by environmental conditions that mediate flight activity. The influence that temperature, humidity, and light intensity have on the initiation of flight by the lesser grain borer, Rhyzopertha dominica (F.), was examined in the laboratory.

Abstract When 14C-radiolabeled malathion was applied topically to susceptible and malathion-resistant Rhyzopertha dominica and degradation monitored over the subsequent 24-hr period three fractions of metabolites were observed; the carboxyesterase products, a group of polar compounds, and a pool of unextractable residues.

A number of experiments were conducted to evaluate the toxicity of some insecticides by bio-assay method against the insect pest, Rhizopertha dominica (Fabr.) (Bostrychidae : Coleoptera). The decreasing order of relative toxicity of insecticides in dermal application were fenvelerate (2.09) > malathion (1.25) > Virat (1.16) > profenophos (1.00).
