Detect, Decouple, Optimise: Insights into Solar Photovoltaics Faults and Performance Trends
This study integrates fault detection and diagnosis with long‐term performance analysis for over 300 PV system strings. By decoupling reversible operational faults from intrinsic degradation, it reveals how fault occurrence biases performance loss rates, introduces new reliability metrics, and provides strategies to optimise design, maintenance, and ...

Study of Light-Induced Changes in the Optoelectronic Quality of Ga-Doped Silicon Wafers
Light-induced degradation (LID) of boron-doped (B-doped) Czochralski silicon (Cz-Si) due to the formation of boron-oxygen (B-O) defects is a very well-known phenomenon that limits the stability of solar cells.

We explore the degradation mechanisms of photovoltaic modules through a novel combination of indoor and outdoor measurements. We focus on the impact of moisture ingress and ultraviolet radiation on module performance and compare these effects on tunnel oxide passivated contact, HJT and PERC technologies. The methodology includes accelerated aging tests

The photovoltaic industry is now using UV‐transparent module encapsulants. Modern silicon solar cells must thus inherently withstand UV exposure. PERC, TOPCon, and HJT can all suffer from severe implied voltage degradation above 20 mV after 3.8 years of equivalent outdoor exposure. UV‐induced degradation can be the next big reliability challenge.

Daylight Photoluminescence Imaging via Optical String Switching
The use of optical modulators enables the switching of the operating points of photovoltaic (PV) modules within one PV string connected to a utility‐scale PV inverter. This principle facilitates efficient daylight photoluminescence imaging, a noninvasive method enabling rapid image acquisition without altering PV system hardware or software.

This study explores the intricate interaction between involved hydrogen complexes and the light‐ and elevated‐temperature‐induced degradation (LeTID) defect states. The findings highlight the connection between the LeTID precursor and molecular hydrogen, as well as the influence of atomic hydrogen on the LeTID degradation and regeneration.

A systematic literature review of the bifacial photovoltaic module and its applications
Abstract Bifacial modules can absorb radiation on both sides, increasing energy yield per unit area. Climatic conditions, mounting configuration, and system parameters influence the energy yield. The flexibility of bifacial modules allows for various installation orientations, including vertical and east‐west, which can help balance load profiles and ...
