SHBs Mitigates Sorafenib‐Induced Apoptosis in Hepatocellular Carcinoma via Activation of RAF1/MEK/ERK Signaling Pathway

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a major driver of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and is associated with resistance to sorafenib, the first‐line treatment for advanced HCC. This study demonstrates that the small HBV surface antigen (SHBs) promotes sorafenib resistance by activating the RAF1/MEK/ERK signaling pathway, inhibiting apoptosis in HCC ...

Radiographic Peri‐Implant Bone Changes in Osteoporotic Women Treated With a Ti‐Zr, Bone Level Tapered Implant With a Hydrophilic Surface: A 12‐Month Prospective Case‐Series

open access: yesClinical Oral Implants Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives This study assessed 12‐month post‐loading 3D peri‐implant radiographic bone changes in osteoporotic women receiving a single titanium‐zirconium bone‐level tapered dental implant with a hydrophilic surface. Materials and Methods This was a prospective case series involving 18 post‐menopausal osteoporotic women in need of a single ...

Targeting SHP‐1‐Mediated Inhibition of STAT3 and ERK Signalling Pathways Rescues the Hyporesponsiveness of MHC‐I‐Deficient NK‐92MI

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
B2M knockout (KO) represents a crucial strategy for generating universal NK‐92MI cell products. This approach results in increased phosphorylation of SHP‐1 and inhibited phosphorylation of STAT3 and ERK, which ultimately affect their cytotoxic capabilities. SHP‐1 KO facilitates the restoration of cytotoxic function in B2M KO NK‐92MI cells.

Maternal Nutritional Status Governs Fetal Development by Modulating Imprinting Gene GAB1‐Mediated Trophoblast Differentiation in the Placenta

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
Maternal nutrient restriction disrupts placental homeostasis via GAB1 dysregulation—involving both transcriptional downregulation and autophagy‐dependent protein degradation. These molecular alterations inhibit MAPK signalling‐mediated trophoblast fusion, leading to structural and functional deficits in the maternal–fetal exchange interface.

Pyrimethamine Triggers the Apoptotic Pathway in Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma in Cell‐Based Models

open access: yesJournal of Oral Pathology &Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC) is the most prevalent salivary gland malignancy, with a poor prognosis in high‐grade tumors at diagnosis. This highlights the need for effective antitumor agents for treating MEC. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the antineoplastic efficacy of pyrimethamine (PYR), a Food and Drug Administration ...

TOMM20 as a driver of cancer aggressiveness via oxidative phosphorylation, maintenance of a reduced state, and resistance to apoptosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 19, Issue 8, Page 2431-2455, August 2025.
TOMM20 increases cancer aggressiveness by maintaining a reduced state with increased NADH and NADPH levels, oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), and apoptosis resistance while reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. Conversely, CRISPR‐Cas9 knockdown of TOMM20 alters these cancer‐aggressive traits.

Fast pH‐Driven Solubilization Method of Realgar (As4S4) to Reduce the Toxicity of Arsenic [As(III)] for Medicinal Purposes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 29, August 7, 2025.
Arsenic trioxide transformed acute promyelocytic leukemia therapy and shows promise against HIV. A new method to solubilize the mineral realgar produces different arsenic species depleting the main arsenic target, nuclear PML protein, and retaining effects on leukemic and HIV reservoir cells, while minimizing off‐target damage.

Multi‐omics integration analysis identifies INPP4B as a T‐cell‐specific activation suppressor

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 8, August 2025.
A comprehensive multi‐omics characterisation of INPP4B across immune cell populations. Discovery of a T‐cell‐specific expression and interaction domain of INPP4B. INPP4B functions as a T‐cell‐specific activation suppressor. INPP4B is upregulated in exhausted T cells within the tumour microenvironment. Abstract Background Naïve T cells are maintained in
