Hyperleukocytosis (Re)Visited- Is it always Leukaemia: A Report of Two Cases and Review of Literature [PDF]
Hyperleukocytosis is defined as total leukocyte count of more than 100×109 /L. Commonly seen in leukaemic conditions, nonleukaemic causes are usually not encountered and thought of. We report two such non-malignant cases of hyperleukocytosis.

Faecal leukocyte esterase activity is an alternative biomarker in inflammatory bowel disease [PDF]
Background: Leukocyte cytosolic proteins (e.g., calprotectin) are emerging biomarkers for inflammatory bowel disease. Leukocyte aryl esterase activity has been commonly used for sensitive detection of leukocytes in human body fluids such as urine.

A subgroup also was tested for numbers of T cells, B cells, and CD4 and CD8 subsets. Smoking status and alcohol consumption were determined by means of questionnaire, and smoking status was verified with serum cotinine concentration ...
