Oral leukoplakia is defined as a predominantly white lesion of the oral mucosa that cannot be characterized as any other definable lesion; however, the lesion must be confirmed histopathologically by biopsy in order to discuss malignant transformation of oral leukoplakia.

Using Mendelian randomization, we show that alcohol intake frequency increases oropharyngeal cancer risk independently of socioeconomic status, while the apparent protective effect of drinking with meals is explained by higher household income. Drinks per week independently increase stomatitis risk.
