Deciphering the Relationship Between Alcohol Consumption, Oropharyngeal Cancers, and Socioeconomic Determinants

Using Mendelian randomization, we show that alcohol intake frequency increases oropharyngeal cancer risk independently of socioeconomic status, while the apparent protective effect of drinking with meals is explained by higher household income. Drinks per week independently increase stomatitis risk.
