Evaluation Study of Level Crossings on Direct Crossing Routes (JPL) in Semarang City
As a mass transportation system infrastructure, level crossings impact road users, including skidding, road damage, and accidents. Based on data from KAI DAOP 4 Semarang, there were 12 accidents at level crossings in 2023, while in 2024, the number ...

Fatal accidents at railway level crossings in Great Britain 1946–2009 [PDF]
This paper investigates fatal accidents and fatalities at level crossings in Great Britain over the 64-year period 1946-2009. The numbers of fatal accidents and fatalities per year fell by about 65% in the first half of that period, but since then have remained more or less constant at about 11 fatal accidents and 12 fatalities per year.

Assessment of the accident rate coefficient at pedestrian railway crossings
The object of the study is pedestrian railway crossings, which are specially designed pedestrian paths across railway tracks intended to ensure the safe passage of pedestrians over railway infrastructure, including areas outside of official level ...

The Visual Behaviour of the Cyclist: Comparison between Simulated and Real Scenarios
Cyclists are one of the main categories of road users particularly exposed to accident risk. The increasing use of this ecological means of transport requires a specific assessment of cyclist safety in terms of traffic flow and human factors.

A flexure‐based variable stiffness structure is developed by integrating phase‐change modulation and adhesive interfacial locking of gallium. The design enables a wide stiffness variability, transitioning from soft, flexible behavior to rigid, load‐supporting performance.

A risk assessment study on accidents at French level crossings using Bayesian belief networks [PDF]
Level crossing (LX) safety continues to be one of the most critical issues for railways despite an ever increasing focus on improving design and practices. In the present paper, a framework of probabilistic risk assessment and improvement decision based on Bayesian belief networks (PRAID-BBN) is proposed. The developed framework aims to analyse various
