From Rigid to Soft Robotic Approaches for Neuroendoscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Robotic assistance has had minimal impact on deep intraventricular surgeries, where small‐scale, precision, and reduced invasiveness can contribute to improved patient outcomes. Emerging technologies in rigid, soft, and hybrid robotics are reviewed to identify the most promising mechanisms for deep brain navigation in addition to an attempt to identify

Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.

Methodology to assess safety effects of future Intelligent Transport Systems on railway level crossings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
There is consistent evidence showing that driver behaviour contributes to crashes and near miss incidents at railway level crossings (RLXs). The development of emerging Vehicle-to-Vehicle and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure technologies is a highly promising ...

Cross‐Scale Hierarchical Targeted Delivery System Based on Small‐Scale Magnetic Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This article reviews a cross‐scale hierarchical targeted delivery system that integrates magnetic continuum robots and magnetic microrobots. By combining rapid long‐range navigation with precise microscale targeting, the system overcomes key limitations of single‐scale approaches.

Nicotinamide and Pyridoxine Supplementation Enhances Muscle Stem Cell Activity and Muscle Regeneration in Humans: A Randomized Placebo‐Controlled Clinical Trial of High Force Eccentric Contraction Recovery in Healthy Young Men

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In a randomized clinical trial, we test the potential of combined nicotinamide (NAM) and pyridoxine (PN) to improve muscle recovery through muscle stem cell (MuSC) activity. Daily oral NAM and PN supplementation after high intensity muscle contractions enhances MuSC activation and differentiation, and accelerates muscle regeneration, providing new ...

Comparison of risk factors for pedestrian fatality in urban and suburban traffic accidents

open access: yesArchives of Trauma Research, 2018
Background: The burden of traffic accidents on pedestrians is very high in Iran. Since the pattern of injury is different in urban and suburban accidents, this study was conducted to identify the risk factors associated with pedestrian mortality in urban

Three-generation study of neutrino spin-flavor conversion in supernova and implication for neutrino magnetic moment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We investigate resonant spin-flavor (RSF) conversions of supernova neutrinos which are induced by the interaction of neutrino magnetic moment and supernova magnetic fields. From the formulation which includes all three-flavor neutrinos and anti-neutrinos,

Identifying Cytokine Motif‐Containing, Immunomodulatory Bacterial Proteins in Human Gut Microbiome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By building and constructing HMM (Upper left, blue), the authors identify CMCPs in bacteria genomes and CRC related metagenomes and enriched CRC‐related CMCPs (Upper right, blue). They analyze sequence and structural similarity of hits (Lower left, green), test function with engineered EcN delivered to tumors in a mouse tumor model (Lower right, pink ...

Conceptualising quality early childhood education: Learning from young children in Brazil and South Africa through creative and play‐based methods

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Early childhood has increasingly been acknowledged as a vital time for all children. Inclusive and quality education is part of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, with the further specification that all children have access to quality pre‐primary education.
