Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

An alternative to the plasma emission model: Particle-In-Cell, self-consistent electromagnetic wave emission simulations of solar type III radio bursts

open access: yes, 2011
1.5D PIC, relativistic, fully electromagnetic (EM) simulations are used to model EM wave emission generation in the context of solar type III radio bursts. The model studies generation of EM waves by a super-thermal, hot beam of electrons injected into a

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Influence of single shot and continuous peripheral nerve block on opioid consumption and perioperative pain management in patients undergoing total elbow arthroplasty

open access: yesJSES International
Background: Peripheral nerve block (PNB) is effective for pain management after shoulder arthroplasty. Our study investigated the impact of regional anesthesia on perioperative pain management following total elbow arthroplasty (TEA).

On special limits of the Mixed Painlev\'e P$_{\mathbf{III-V}}$ Model

open access: yes, 2019
The paper discusses P$_{III-V}$ equation for special values of its parameters for which this equation reduces to P$_{III}$, I$_{12}$, as well as, to some special cases of I$_{38}$ and I$_{49}$ equations from the Ince's list of $50$ second order ...

Photosynthesis under far‐red light—evolutionary adaptations and bioengineering of light‐harvesting complexes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phototrophs evolved light‐harvesting systems adapted for efficient photon capture in habitats enriched in far‐red radiation. A subset of eukaryotic pigment‐binding proteins can absorb far‐red photons via low‐energy chlorophyll states known as red forms.

Association of upper thoracic motion and scapular upward rotation angle with the occurrence of traumatic shoulder dislocation in rugby players

open access: yesJSES International
Background: The study aimed to elucidate the relationship between reduced thoracic elevation mobility and scapular upward rotation and the occurrence of traumatic shoulder dislocation in rugby players, as this relationship is unclear. Methods: First-year

Rad27/FEN1 prevents accumulation of Okazaki fragments and ribosomal DNA copy number changes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The budding yeast Rad27 is a structure‐specific endonuclease. Here, the authors reveal that Rad27 is crucial for maintaining the stability of the ribosomal RNA gene (rDNA) region. Rad27 deficiency leads to the accumulation of Okazaki fragments and changes in rDNA copy number.

Short-term clinical and functional outcomes of distal biceps tendon fixation: all-suture vs. titanium anchors

open access: yesJSES International
Background: The objective of this study was to evaluate the preliminary clinical and functional outcomes of patients with distal biceps tendon ruptures undergoing surgical fixation using 2 intramedullary all-suture anchors (ASAs) and to compare these ...
