We present a new algorithm for image segmentation - Level-set KSVD. Level-set KSVD merges the methods of sparse dictionary learning for feature extraction and variational level-set method for image segmentation. Specifically, we use a generalization of the Chan-Vese functional with features learned by KSVD.

Quantitative Comparison of Deformable Models in Range Segmentation
In this paper we segment range images by applying three deformable models (the classical Active Contour, the adaptive active contour and the Level Set method). These three methods are used to segment images with planar and curved surface scenes. Then the

Level-set topology optimization considering nonlinear thermoelasticity [PDF]
At elevated temperature environments, elastic structures experience a change of the stress-free state of the body that can strongly influence the optimal topology of the structure.

An efficient similarity-based level set model for medical image segmentation
It is usually difficult to correctly segment medical images with intensity inhomogeneity, which is of great significance in understanding of medical images. The local image intensity features play a vital role in accurately segmenting medical images with

Level Set Jet Schemes for Stiff Advection Equations: The SemiJet Method [PDF]
Many interfacial phenomena in physical and biological systems are dominated by high order geometric quantities such as curvature. Here a semi-implicit method is combined with a level set jet scheme to handle stiff nonlinear advection problems.

A fully automated approach to prostate biopsy segmentation based on level-set and mean filtering
With modern automated microscopes and digital cameras, pathologists no longer have to examine samples looking through microscope binoculars. Instead, the slide is digitized to an image, which can then be examined on a screen. This creates the possibility

Analytical level set fabrication constraints for inverse design
Inverse design methods produce nanophotonic devices with arbitrary geometries that show high efficiencies as well as novel functionalities. Ensuring fabricability during optimization of these unrestricted device geometries is a major challenge for these ...
