Analysis of a level set method for topology optimization
Optimization Methods and Software, 2011A level set method for the topological optimization of domains is proposed and analysed in this paper. The framework of the analysis is that of elliptic optimal control problems with a binary control acting as a source term of the state equation. The main ingredient of the algorithm is the concept of topological derivative.

A Fast Level Set Method for Propagating Interfaces
Journal of Computational Physics, 1995The level technique was introduced to track moving interfaces in a wide variety of problems. It relies on the relation between propagating interfaces and propagating shocks. In the present paper one provides a technique to reduce the computational labor involved in the level set technique for two space dimensions.

An FPGA acceleration of a level set segmentation method
22nd International Conference on Field Programmable Logic and Applications (FPL), 2012Image segmentation is one of the most important tasks in the image processing. The level set method is a powerful algorithm for the segmentation. In the level set method, a three-dimensional auxiliary function is used for detecting objects of various shapes.

Level set trees provide a tool for analyzing multivariate functions. Level set trees are particularly efficient in visualizing and presenting properties related to local maxima and local minima of functions. Level set trees can help statistical inference related to estimating probability density functions and regression functions, and they can be used ...

The great success of level set methods can in part be attributed to the role of curvature in regularizing the level set function such that the proper vanishing viscosity solution is obtained. It is much more difficult to obtain vanishing viscosity solutions with Lagrangian methods that faithfully follow the characteristics.

Level Set Methods for Computation in Hybrid Systems
2000Reachability analysis is frequently used to study the safety of control systems. We present an implementation of an exact reachability operator for nonlinear hybrid systems. After a brief review of a previously presented algorithm for determining reachable sets and synthesizing control laws--upon whose theory the new implementation rests--an equivalent
