Energy cost of level walking.

Devices and methods have been developed for determining speed and oxygen cost of level walking. Speed was recorded and controlled using a speedometer cart. Oxygen uptake was determined with an argon-dilution method using a mixing box mounted on a backpack.

The recast of the Directive on the Energy Performance of Buildings (EPBD) states that Member States (MS) must ensure that minimum energy performance requirements for buildings are set “with a view to achieve cost-optimal levels”, and that the cost-optimal level must be calculated in accordance with a comparative methodology.
