Devices and methods have been developed for determining speed and oxygen cost of level walking. Speed was recorded and controlled using a speedometer cart. Oxygen uptake was determined with an argon-dilution method using a mixing box mounted on a backpack.

The levelized cost of energy for distributed PV: A parametric study
2010 35th IEEE Photovoltaic Specialists Conference, 2010The maturation of distributed solar PV as an energy source requires that the technology no longer compete on module efficiency and manufacturing cost ($/Wp) alone. Solar PV must yield sufficient energy (kWh) at a competitive cost (¢/kWh) to justify its system investment and ongoing maintenance costs.

Levelized Cost of Energy of the Weptos wave energy converter
2015This report presents the cost of energy calculations of a wave energy array of 90 MW, consisting of 25 x 3.6 MW Weptos wave energy converters. The calculation has been made in analogy with a publically available document presented by the UK government, covering the case of a similar size wind turbine farm. The same categories and approach has been used,

Introducing cost-optimal levels for energy requirements
2012The recast of the Directive on the Energy Performance of Buildings (EPBD) states that Member States (MS) must ensure that minimum energy performance requirements for buildings are set “with a view to achieve cost-optimal levels”, and that the cost-optimal level must be calculated in accordance with a comparative methodology.

Energy performance and “cost-optimal levels”: an example
2013The European energy policies about climate and energy packages, known as the “20-20-20” targets, define ambitious, but achievable, national energy requirements. The Directive 2010/31/UE, the “Commission delegated regulation (EU)” n.244/2012 and “Guidelines accompanying Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) n.244/2012” 2012/C 115/01 define a comparative ...
