Noncanonical Nucleotides in the Genome Around the Maternal‐Zygotic Transition
In this paper, Kazzazi et al. provide a comprehensive review of the dynamics of nonconventional nucleotides in the genome during early developmental stages, hypothesizing a potential role for these nucleotides in the activation of the zygotic genome. ABSTRACT From the very moment of fertilization and throughout development, the cells of animal embryos ...

Average Time Spent by Levy Flights and Walks on an Interval with Absorbing Boundaries
We consider a Levy flyer of order alpha that starts from a point x0 on an interval [O,L] with absorbing boundaries. We find a closed-form expression for the average number of flights the flyer takes and the total length of the flights it travels before ...

Levy flights are not evolved behavior
AbstractTracks of moving animals have many short moves interspersed with longer moves, and frequencies of all moves together often indicate Levy flights (a type of power law)^1^. The Levy flight foraging hypothesis suggests that, 'since Levy flights and walks can optimize search efficiencies, therefore natural selection should have led to adaptations ...

ABSTRACT The main results of this paper are the global existence and long time behavior of solutions of a fractional wave equation with a nonlocal nonlinearity. The techniques in this work rely on norm estimates of the solutions of εutt+ut+(−Δ)βu=0,u(0,x)=φ(x),ut(0,x)=ψ(x),$$ \varepsilon {u}_{tt}+{u}_t+{\left(-\Delta \right)}^{\beta }u=0,\kern1em u ...

Does strange kinetics imply unusual thermodynamics?
We introduce a fractional Fokker-Planck equation (FFPE) for Levy flights in the presence of an external field. The equation is derived within the framework of the subordination of random processes which leads to Levy flights.

The response of dispersers to landscape changes depends on both external environmental conditions and individual internal conditions, as well as movement and orientation abilities. Plasticity in habitat selection may also affect how individuals respond to landscape changes.

Liquid Phase TEM of Diffusing Emulsion Droplets
Motion of emulsion droplets was observed via in situ liquid phase transmission electron microscopy. Analysis revealed that the motion is self‐affine and influenced by multiple stochastic processes, as well as a fractal landscape created by the electron beam.

Cuckoo Search Inspired Hybridization of the Nelder-Mead Simplex Algorithm Applied to Optimization of Photovoltaic Cells [PDF]
A new hybridization of the Cuckoo Search (CS) is developed and applied to optimize multi-cell solar systems; namely multi-junction and split spectrum cells. The new approach consists of combining the CS with the Nelder-Mead method.

Overabundant populations of eastern grey kangaroos Macropus giganteus in peri‐urban areas pose ecological and social challenges. Current management strategies are often hindered by animal welfare and logistical concerns. This study aimed to assess stress responses of kangaroos to two contraceptive delivery methods.
