This paper presents the development and verification of a (very simple) lexical analyzer generator that takes a regular expression and yields a functional lexical analyzer. The emphasis is on simplicity and executability. The work was carried out with the help of the theorem prover Isabelle/HOL.

1989The automatic linguistic analysis of texts requires basic information about the simple and compound words of the text. Lexical analysis is the preliminary step before syntactic analysis. We have shown that important linguistic problems appear during this basic step.

A lexical analysis of environmental sound categories.
Journal of Experimental Psychology: Applied, 2012In this article we report on listener categorization of meaningful environmental sounds. A starting point for this study was the phenomenological taxonomy proposed by Gaver (1993b). In the first experimental study, 15 participants classified 60 environmental sounds and indicated the properties shared by the sounds in each class.
