Interstitial leydig cell tumor of testis

We report on a 54-year-old male patient with Leydig cell tumor of testis, an incidental finding following orchiectomy for a testicular tumor. The pathological findings met the established histologic criteria for a benign tumor. The patient required no other treatment. The results of hormonal analyses were hormonal.

The propensity for ovarian endometrioid adenocarcinomas to morphologically mimic Sertoli, Sertoli-Leydig, and granulosa cell tumors, is well known. The converse situation, mimicry of an endometrioid neoplasm by a sex cord-stromal tumor, has not been emphasized.

1997There may be overlap between the microscopic features in benign and rare malignant Leydig cell tumors. Moreover, there is often considerable morphological similarity to normal Leydig cells causing difficulties in predicting which tumors will show a malignant behaviour (Kim et al., 1985).

[Leydig-cell tumors of the testis].
Urologiia i nefrologiia, 1997The authors review case histories of 23 patients with leydigomas selected from records on 134 patients with nongerminogenic testicular tumors. Malignancy occurred in 6 cases. Two cases with uni- and bilateral testicular involvement are reported. The course of leydigoma in children is described.
