Efficient CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated genome editing in sheepgrass (Leymus chinensis)

Journal of Integrative Plant Biology, 2023
ABSTRACTThe lack of genome editing platforms has hampered efforts to study and improve forage crops that can be grown on lands not suited to other crops. Here, we established efficient Agrobacterium‐mediated clustered regularly interspaced palindromic repeats (CRISPR)/CRISPR‐associated nuclease 9 (Cas9) genome editing in a perennial, stress‐tolerant ...

Trichoderma improves the growth of Leymus chinensis

Biology and Fertility of Soils, 2018
Bio-fertilizer application has been proposed as a strategy for enhancing soil fertility, regulating soil microflora composition, and improving crop yields, and it has been widely applied in the agricultural yields. However, the application of bio-fertilizer in grassland has been poorly studied.

Factors Affecting Plant Regeneration from Tissue Cultures of Chinese Leymus (Leymus chinensis)

Plant Cell, Tissue and Organ Culture, 2004
Chinese leymus (Leymus chinensis Trin.) is a perennial grass of the Gramineae, which is widely distributed in China, Mongolia and in Russian-Siberian. In order to explore the potential of biotechnology for genetic improvement of this forage grass, an efficient tissue culture system was established and the factors affecting plant regeneration were ...

Leymus Chinensis (Leymus chinensis (Trin.) Tzvelev) in the Western Trans-Baikal Region: Cenosis Structures, Production, and Biochemical Composition in the Current Growth Environment

Arid Ecosystems, 2021
The phytocoenotic characteristics of leymus-chinensis cenoses growing in soils of different types in the meadow–steppe, the floodplain–steppe, and the halophytic grasslands in the western Trans-Baikal region are considered. The botanical composition is found to consist of 28 glicophyte species, 17 halotolerant glicophytes, and 6 halophytes.

Basic Knowledge of Sheepgrass (Leymus chinensis)

2019
Sheepgrass (Leymus chinensis (Trin.) Tzvel) is the key species which is widely distributed in eastern Eurasia steppe. It is a perennial gramineous plant belonging to Leymus, Triticeae, and Poaceae. As a very important forage grass of great value in animal husbandry, sheepgrass is well known for its abundant foliage, high palatability, and high ...

Compensatory Growth Pattern of Sheepgrass (Leymus chinensis)

2019
Plant compensatory growth is mainly observed in their morphological changes, such as plant height, leaf area, recovery rate, and biomass. In natural ecosystems, the compensatory growth performance of plants in tolerating disasters or surviving disasters is reflected in yield and fitness.

Sexual Reproduction of Sheepgrass (Leymus chinensis)

2019
Sheepgrass is a cross-pollination and self-incompatible plant. In the natural habitat, the asexual reproduction of sheepgrass occupies the absolute superiority, and the sexual reproductive capacity is weak. The sexual reproduction characteristics of sheepgrass are based on the pollination process and seed development.
