Pregnancy-induced Cushing’s syndrome with an adrenocortical adenoma overexpressing LH/hCG receptors: a case report

open access: yesBMC Endocrine Disorders, 2020
Background Pregnancy-induced Cushing’s syndrome (CS) with an adrenocortical adenoma overexpressing luteinizing hormone (LH)/human choriogonadotropin (hCG) receptors (LHCGR) has been rarely reported in the literatures.

Genetic Adaptation to Brackish Water and Spawning Season in European Cisco

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, Volume 34, Issue 20, October 2025.
ABSTRACT How species adapt to diverse environmental conditions is essential for understanding evolution and the maintenance of biodiversity. The European cisco (Coregonus albula) is a salmonid that occurs in both fresh and brackish water, and this together with the presence of sympatric spring‐ and autumn‐spawning lacustrine populations provides an ...

A luteinizing hormone receptor intronic variant is significantly associated with decreased risk of Alzheimer's disease in males carrying an apolipoprotein E ε4 allele

open access: yesBMC Medical Genetics, 2008
Genetic and biochemical studies support the apolipoprotein E (APOE) ε4 allele as a major risk factor for late-onset Alzheimer's disease (AD), though ~50% of AD patients do not carry the allele.

Extensive admixture and selective pressure across the Sahel Belt [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Genome-wide studies of African populations have the potential to reveal powerful insights into the evolution of our species, as these diverse populations have been exposed to intense selective pressures imposed by infectious diseases, diet, and ...

High‐Fat and High‐Sugar Diet Induces Murine Premature Ovarian Failure by Promoting Mitochondrial Oxidative Phosphorylation Response

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 9, September 2025.
Our study is the first to report the application of scRNA‐seq to analyze the ovarian landscape of HFHS‐fed mice and to verify that the HFHS diet induced POF in mice by activating the oxidative phosphorylation signal transduction pathway in the thecal cell, granulosa cell, and cumulus cell clusters in mouse ovarian tissues.

Semaphorin 3E‐Plexin‐D1 Pathway Downstream of the Luteinizing Hormone Surge Regulates Ovulation, Granulosa Cell Luteinization, and Ovarian Angiogenesis in Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 29, August 7, 2025.
The Semaphorin 3E (Sema3E)‐Plexin‐D1 pathway mediated by C/EBPα and C/EBPβ downstream of the luteinizing hormone (LH) surge plays important roles in the mouse preovulatory ovary. Timely activation and suppression of this pathway during the preovulatory stage are crucial for ovulation, corpus luteum formation, and proper angiogenesis.

Enhancing endometrial receptivity: the roles of human chorionic gonadotropin in autophagy and apoptosis regulation in endometrial stromal cells

open access: yesReproductive Biology and Endocrinology
Inadequate endometrial receptivity often results in embryo implantation failure and miscarriage. Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is a key signaling molecule secreted during early embryonic development, which regulates embryonic maternal interface ...

Clinical, biological and genetic analysis of prepubertal isolated ovarian cyst in 11 girls.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2010
BackgroundThe cause of isolated gonadotropin-independent precocious puberty (PP) with an ovarian cyst is unknown in the majority of cases. Here, we describe 11 new cases of peripheral PP and, based on phenotypes observed in mouse models, we tested the ...

Pivotal role of the muscle-contraction pathway in cryptorchidism and evidence for genomic connections with cardiomyopathy pathways in RASopathies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
BACKGROUND: Cryptorchidism is the most frequent congenital disorder in male children; however the genetic causes of cryptorchidism remain poorly investigated.
